The Dark Tower Series Question (no spoilers)
So, I have recently rekindled my love for Stephen King with Under the Dome and 11/22/63, but I started listening to the audiobook of the Gunslinger the other day and I was ...underwhelmed. I think part of it may have been the combo of the narrator (who I actually liked for The Golem and the Jinni, but his voice and this story weren't working for me) and the desolate, Western-y vibe of the story. I actually traded it in for Joyland on Audible, and I'm really liking that.
But I've heard so many good things about the Dark Tower series that I was bummed at my ho-hum reaction. I might want to try again in physical book form. Did anyone else feel like this book/series started slow and then picked up later? I realize this was written 30+ years ago. Maybe I just prefer Stephen King's more recent books?
Re: The Dark Tower Series Question (no spoilers)
lol! Yes, Book 1 is pretty rough! Even SK says that he doesn't like Book 1!!!
The books DEFINITELY get better! Plow through & move on to Book 2!
And actually finish it. Ahem @elistar.
