Any Paleo or Primal Blueprint eaters here?

I tried Paleo once before, but there was so much prep work involved that it didn't fit our lives at the time, moving halfway across the country meant eating out for extended periods at a time. But, now that we're completely settled, I would like to try it again. I've also read that the Paleo/Primal diet, as a lifestyle, has been shown to help regulate thyroid function. That would be a huge help, since my med dosage has changed at least once a year for the last five years.

Anyway, my real question is about pantry staples. Fresh meats and vegetables I've got a handle on, but what about snacks and pantry items?

Thanks for any info you can share!

  • Our family has been on the diet for a couple of months.  I am really loving it :) I have lost so much stubborn weight and feel 20 years younger. For snacks I started on using nuts and fresh fruit, it is amazing how after not sugar when you have fresh fruit how sweet it tastes.  For work snacks I take an avocado, orange banana or apple to work, even a boiled egg.  We have sooo much added sugar in processed foods that our taste buds get numb to sugar and we need  much more to taste it. We are now venturing onto other Paleo treats there are many available if you google Paleo treats. I am so greatfull with the Paleo lifestyle I set up a website it has some great tips, check it out (you get a free report)  it is   www.Bestpaleo4u.com

Hope you find this useful :)
  • I was eating Paleo for about a year and, like you said, it can be a ton of work but it was so worth it. I lost about 30 lbs before my wedding just by changing what I ate; after the first few weeks the lbs literally started melting off. Unfortunately I got lazy about a year ago but just started back up last week.

Anyway, my go-to snacks were always bacon wrapped dates. I'd make a ton and put them in the fridge and take 5 to work every day for my snack. Sweet potato chips and guac were also staples (store bought or homemade). As were kale chips, nuts, and Lara Bars.

My pantry always has the following: coconut oil and flour, almond flour, arrowroot and/or tapioca powder, coconut palm sugar, chia and flax seeds, nuts, dried fruits, nut butters (my favorite is sunbutter), broths, honey, and maple syrup.

I follow a lot of Paleo bloggers on FB and pintrest and they're always sharing great information and recipes. Let me know if you want their names. I hope that helps!
