  • I do accounting/bookkeeping and taxes.  I also do insurance billing for mental health counselors on the side.

I wish I could rescue animals (though I think seeing them in horrible conditions might be too heartbreaking for me).

  • I work in HR.

Other than being a SAH wife and someday mom, I really think I'd enjoy being a professional stager. Random, I know. I don't think I'd like stress of being a full time interior designer, but doing stuff that's temporary so people could sell their houses would be super fun.

I actually think the above could be attainable if I tried. I have friends in the real estate business. Otherwise, I really think I'd enjoy teaching (high school speech/debate). I'm just too chicken to pull the trigger and go for it. I'd also really love to get back into volunteering at the local crisis pregnancy centers, but I can't with my work hours right now :( If I ever get to SAH or work PT, I will absolutely start doing this again.

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!

T-TTC since Dec 2008. PCOS/nonexistant cycles(anovulation) and endo. HSG in '10 revealed both tubes blocked. Lap surgery in Dec '10 to correct. Failed Clomid/IUI and injectable(Bravelle)/IUI cycles so far.

  • I work in Parliamentary Affairs - so I monitor what's going on in the House of Commons (kiiinnnd of like Congress) and the Senate and feed it up to senior management. I also help to prepare the head of our Agency when he has to appear before House/Senate committees (writing speeches, briefing notes, Qs&As).

I would love to be someone who decorates windows in large department stores. Weird, I know.

I can't imagine doing anything far removed from what I do now.  It's nice to think about following my dreams, but I have a mortgage and I like to travel. And, I enjoy my job for the most part. :)

I also work for the Canadian government in an area that provides funding for international sport events hosted in Canada. We also work supporting our national team athletes and sport organizations. I am also a Registered Kinesiologist but non-practicing. And I'm also doing grad school on the side.

Dream job- nutritionist at a spa/resort on a beach

Realistic - I like my job so if I could go part time to keep my benefits, I would pursue my Kinesiology practice part time. When grad school is done, I may very well do this.

  • What do I do? Work with the general public and assist said people.

What do I wish that I did? Study humpbacks in the Southern ocean.

  • Real life, I'm an attorney. Dream life, I'd would like to be something artistic, like a dancer or musician. Possible, it would be cool to be a judge.
    Married 2011.
    Baby Boy 2015.
  • For a living I work as a Cardiovascular Tech at the hospital while I complete my Bachelors degree in nursing.

I wish I could be a stay at home mom and work part time or per diem.

That might be attainable but my husband is a police officer and honestly, they get paid very little compared to what they truly deserve. We shall see what the future brings :)
  • I teach preschool and coordinate childcare type things.

I enjoy it a lot. My dream job would probably be that combined with knitting things for people.

@nfp147 I have a bit of experience decorating windows in stores. I enjoyed it but in the winter it got cooooooold up there.

I'm a librarian (and I get to telecommute).

I had always wanted to be a music librarian, and gained all of the education that is usually required to do so (an MLS and an MA in music history), but positions are hard to come by. Since my husband is a tenure-track professor at his current institution, we're not likely to move, which is what would be necessary for me to find a music librarian position.

That being said, although I never considered being a metadata and catalog librarian as part of my career path, I'm really happy with what I do and I feel very fortunate to be allowed to telecommute full-time, so if I remain in these circumstances for the rest of my career, I'm more than okay with that.

ETA: Being a SAHM would be something that I'd love to do, but unfortunately it's not in the cards anytime soon.

  • I do accounting and it is so boring and really not my style. I am basically stuck at a desk all day long staring at 2 computer screens.

My #1 dream would be to open an animal rescue shelter and have a volunteer program for teens who are interested in going into animal science. I would love to rehabilitate the animals, find them homes and teach about the care and husbandry of the animals.

What I would also like to do, is teach elementary school. I had tried for 2 years to get my foot in the door but no schools in NY were hiring. I ended up staying in my job for the money but now I am done waiting and will settle for any sub job out there.

  • I'm an insurance agent, but have pretty much been placed into a glorified secretary position for the time being.  However, I still sell policies, but am no longer in charge of marketing for new business.  So it hinders my growth and workload.

    Dream Job:  Professional traveler.

What I would do that's attainable:  I'm still trying to figure that out.  I really dislike sitting at a desk for 9 hours/day, and miss physical work.
I wish that I would have continued for my CPA and would get into the accounting and bookkeeping for our local farmers.  I have the farming knowledge to understand everything that's going on, yet the business sense to make it work out on paper and show them breakdowns of the hard numbers.  I currently do this for 3 family farmers, but don't know the tax side of things to be able to broaden it and make it a true business.

  • I work part time in two libraries, one public and one in an elementary school.  I go to school part time for Web Development as well.

Dream job: Ugh.  All the things.  Publisher.  Writer.  Start up a non-profit to teach languages that are prevalent in my area besides English.  Web developer or software engineer for a company, but not on salary so I don't have to work overtime without being paid. ;)

Attainable:  Freelance web developer.  But I hate sales and am really bad at selling myself so I don't know how that would really go for me.  I'd want some kind of partner to handle that.

  • Actual: I am an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner. I have accepted a position in an outpatient clinic in Ohio, but DH and I can't move until I get credentialed. I currently work as an RN in an outpatient hematology/oncology office doing patient education and chemotherapy infusions. I love my job and my patients, but I am excited to get started with my NP job!

Dream: I would like to work as an NP three days per week (12 hour shifts -full time), and then be a chef the other days of the week at a café/restaurant.

Attainable: I already have my NP job, and I am working on teaching myself how to cook and bake. I probably won't ever work in a restaurant (unless DH opens one), but I will host amazing dinner parties and gift baked goods to friends and family.

  • I work part time in the Quality department at a hospital. I'm a data bitch, basically.

Dream Job: I'd love to do something involving theater and students of any age. Not sure exactly, though. Also, anything where I can create and get paid well for it.

    Attainable: ?? No clue.

  • I'm a bank manager. Most days I really enjoy my job, but sometimes I would love to do anything other than customer service. I would really like to be a sales coach or trainer someday. I really do love my company, so anything I decide to do tong term will still be here, ideally.
  • I'm an evaluator at a drug and alcohol rehab.

I'd love to be a professional organizer. Kitchens, closets, garages, whatever.
    imageimageimageAnniversary
  • I'm a CPA with a national public accounting firm, but as of this past January I'm on a non-partner track and I don't work crazy tax season hours or weekends. Making that change was the best decision I ever made (though very difficult because I'm a competitive person and people who are my peers now will pass me by; I hope I am as okay with that as I think I will be).

What I wish I did - if we won the lottery, I would tear down the animal shelter I volunteer at and build an amazing facility in its place that I would run.

What's slightly more attainable - I'd have my own gift basket making business (running it out of my home while the kid(s) are growing up).

  • I'm an evaluator at a drug and alcohol rehab. I'd love to be a professional organizer. Kitchens, closets, garages, whatever.
You are MORE than welcome to come professionally organize anything in my house! Be my guest!
