QOTD 10/10

Do you use moisturizer on your face? What kind do you use? Does DH?

Re: QOTD 10/10

  • I would die without moisturizer!  I was using Oil of Olay, but just switched to CeraVe.  My skin has been a little funky for the last 6 months or so and I heard good things about the CeraVe line, so I'm slowly switching over to just using that for all of my skin care.

Sean will only use moisturizer if his skin is dry.  I keep telling him he needs to take care of his skin better, but he has absolutely no interest in that.

  • ^^^ Seconding that--moisturizer is 1000% necessary.  If you're over 18 and not using moisturizer, you need to be!!!!

I use 40 Carrots right now, but my favorite is Clinique Moisture Surge.

I tell DH the same thing @mrshall.  They're going to wish they'd listened to us!

  • Yes! I use Clinique Superdefense in the morning because it has SPF in it. But, if I'm just hanging around the house and don't need the SPF, I use Clinique Dramatically Different. At night, I use Clinique Youth Surge Night. I also use Clinique All About Eyes to de-puff my eyes in the morning. As I've said before, I'm a beauty product junkie!

I've been begging H to use a moisturizer with sunscreen in it. He's a fair red head and his forehead was constantly getting burned. Finally, he bought one...whether he actually puts it on is a different story.

  • I don't use soap of lotion on my face.  I know that sounds gross, but if I do I break out, and if I don't I have clear skin.  I'll use regular unscented hand lotion if my face gets wind burn in the winter, but that is it.

DH does not lotion his face and uses regular hand soap to wash his face.  We both are pretty lucky in the skin department.

  • I have crazy sensitive dry skin, so I use cetaphil cream. I have never found anything else that works for me.

  • I have incredibly sensitive skin. Right now the only thing that works is Vanicream.

H uses a Nivea for men moisturizer. They stopped making it, but he's found it on Amazon. He buys a bunch every few months so he doesn't run out.
  • NOPE!  I used to but I heard somewhere that applying moisturizer makes your skin lazy so it doesn't know how to produce it's own moisture.  Then it dries out and you have to keep applying moisturizer to combat the dryness.  I have no idea if that is true, but since I stopped using stuff on my face (besides vegetable glycerin soap) I have no dryness ever and my oil levels have balanced out.

I do apply sunblock to my face every day in the summer and often in the winter if I'm outside.

  • I NEED IT! I switch what I use though, I like aveeno but this last time I got olay fresh effects with sun screen H says lotion is for wusses. I can barely get him to get my back for me in the winter.

  • And I feel awkward now for saying no to this question after reading all the yes replies.

  • Haha I am going to join the other 2 no ladies. I'm like goatlady, I rarely use soap or moisturizer. I'm lucky to have fantastic skin and if I get a bit dry, I'll put on a little lotion. My mom is the same way and I got her skin. She's 59 and doesn't look older than 45. H washes with acne wash, but no moisturizer.

  • Yes. I alternate between Clinique, Olay and No 7.

DH wouldn't know what to do with a moisturizer if his life depended on it. He says his beard protects his face from the sun and keeps his face warm.

This reminds me... H uses beard oil. Does that count? I had to order it off Amazon.

Now y'all have his trade beard secret.

  • I have to use a moisturizer every morning. My skin is both oily and dry so I need something to help balance it out.
H does not use any moisturizer. I got him to finally use a face wash about a year ago. I think having to use a moisturizer to would send him over the edge.
