First a little preface - I do not have cycles. Like at all. Since there is no risk of messing up any normalcy in my current "cycles", I bought some a Vitex essential oil blend a little while back and have been using it every night. (rumor has it it can screw up people that DO have cycles, hence my preface that I have NO cycles). I rub a single drop or two on my belly, per the instructions. I did it for a little while last cycle, but I almost immediately stated Provera to get my period so I have no idea if it had any real effect. I didn't use the Vitex while on my period because I figured Id just start fresh once it was over.
So, I'm currently on CD 15 and have been using it since AF left. Starting yesterday, I noticed some spotting.. reddish/brown when wiping. Same thing today, but even heavier. Still definitely spotting though and only when I wipe.
Has anyone else experienced random early cycle spotting while taking any form of Vitex? I had some pains earlier which felt similar to O pains (which I always feel on the very rare occasion I O) but it easily could've been any random pain and not related. Regardless, even if it was spotting from O, I would think that would happen AFTER O, not before. Right?
I'm definitely going to continue taking it for awhile, I just found it odd and was wondering what other people experienced! Did anyone else find that it helped regulate cycles?
Thanks!

Stop taking it and consult your doctor. Vitex isn't safe or a good idea for everyone because it's over the counter. If you aren't cycling at all, you need actual things that are proven to work. The spotting you are experiencing has nothing to do with the snake oil you bought. Sorry.
I appreciate the input. Sadly, all the actual things that are "proven to work" cost a lot of money and we've exhausted our resources for the time being. Given I have no cycles whatsoever, it's not like this snake oil can screw up anything further so I'm going to keep at it. If nothing else, at least I'm moisturizing my stomach with the carrier oil so not all is lost lol..
Truthfully, I'm grasping at straws at this point and one of those straws just happens to be a bottle of essential oil. People do crazy things when they're losing hope of the one thing they so desperately wanted in life. This just happens to be my thing this time. My next action will probably be rubbing Windex on my belly.
I truly do appreciate the input though.
