Halloween costume help

Dd is going as Elsa and really wanted a wig. Which saddens me because I can do a great Elsa braid and had snowflakes on bobby pins I made for her to wear at her bday party. But she wants "white" hair and I really didn't want to deal with color spray.

So I got her an Elsa wig and it's a snug fit. She wore it yesterday to our zoo ToTing and it kept sliding back off her head.

Any ideas to keep it in place? It was driving me crazy! The only thing I was thinking is maybe hot gluing the wig on the inside to a headband and maybe that would keep it staying on better? Thoughts or other ideas?

Re: Halloween costume help

  • Did you use a ton of bobby pins and hair clips? That always seems to work pretty well.

  • Heather's Elsa wig is also a very snug fit. She wore it to trick-or-treat while we were camping this weekend. I used 5 or 6 bobby pins to keep it in place and it didn't start slipping until we had been out for nearly two hours. I'm not sure that she'll be able to do it herself for the Halloween parade at school, but I was glad that I didn't have to keep fixing it.

Bobby pin the wig? I really have no idea how to really bobby pin/clip the wig in place without it looking terrible! Ha! Well all my bobby pins are dark so I guess I would have to get some light colored ones otherwise they would be pretty obvious.

I used dark ones - that's all I have. The goal is to pin the wig cap to the real hair, so the pins were all under the surface of the wig hair. I think one poked through, but H didn't know or care. :-)

Wow I don't think I'm talented enough! Ha! I will have to look at it but I don't know how to do the cap part! The wig is so small/tight I can barely get the thing on let alone pin it. Ugh! Hate this stupid thing. I guess I will look up some videos/pics to get some visuals.

  • Yeah, even if you get some in the front it should be much better.

  • we have the same issue. I swear the wig fits my 5 month old great.... 5 year old not so much. My mom brought over a nude knee eye and we put it on her head to tuck all the hair in.... that helped for sure. Then used pins. Hope that helps.
