Has anyone else started House of Leaves? (NS)
I've heard this is really scary, but I'm about 150 pages in and... nada. Anyone else? I get what the author was doing, but the format is making it way too choppy for me to become immersed in. I was really looking forward to this, but unless something changes soon, I think I'm going to ditch this.

So anyway, maybe I'll be done by next Halloween and I can read the NBC horror pick for 2015. Haha

For me I just try to view the footnotes as the "other" story. There are obviously lots of footnotes that are essentially pointless and those I just skim but the ones where he really goes off I just view that as part of the other story this book is telling.
It is amusing though, because I work in higher ed I read TONS of research type papers and articles so I keep not noticing the citation numbers until I get to the bottom of the page because I'm so used to them not actually meaning anything!
I haven't finished, so I can't say if it's worthwhile, but it does get more suspenseful, easier to read, and much more interesting things start happening in TNR, so maybe try sticking it out for a few more chapters?
