What's everyone up to this weekend?  It's cold here :( high of 49 today

Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

Re: Weekend Plans?

  • Fri - tonight I play a wedding and then meet DD and DH at my parents house to watch our baseball team in the playoffs.  It's been a long 29 years since we've been at this point and our city is very excited.

Sat - Another wedding in the evening :(  I'm counting down the weekends till we get a break.  DH and DD are going to Lowe's in the morning for build and grow and I may do some alone shopping.

    Sun - Relax
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Friday-Dinner at my boss' house

Saturday-Go to a local art festival and rest up

Sunday-The half marathon!  Then I'll hopefully watch the Pats game before falling asleep

    Monday-Diving with some friends

Tonight-beginning to get some of the final organization of this fundraiser I've been planning all year done (picking up silent auction items, organizing bidding sheets, getting e-mails off to places that have promised us items but I have yet to arrange picking up those items) probably accompanied by a glass of wine or two.

Tomorrow-winterizing most of my garden, I still have beets, lettuce, brussels sprouts actively growing, most the rest needs to get pulled out and the dirt turned.  I'm planning to plant garlic and shallots and cover most beds in black plastic to jump-start 2015 growing.

Sunday- 9-mile training run, lil'sis is a physical therapist and advised that if I substitute my short runs with swimming and cycling and still run my long runs I can do my half-marathon in 2 weeks (barring any increases in pain).  H and I are registered for a 3.6 mile Octoberfest race at a local brewery so I'm going to do about 5 miles before the race...then we'll spend most the rest of the afternoon at the brewery (our running registration comes with 2 beer tickets and a bratworst lunch)

  • We are in the low 60's here brrrr!! Time to take the AC's out and close up the drafty holes.

Friday- Going to parents house to hang out

Saturday- Working, catching up on TV shows

Sunday- Not sure if I'm working yet, just cleaning/laundry, and putting up Halloween decorations. I still need to get some real pumpkins!!

  • Get this - the wedding tonight at 6pm is still gonna be an outdoor wedding - it will probably be 40 at that time.  There is no way we are comfortable playing in those weather conditions so we will be inside and the guests/couple will be on the patio outside.  Some people are really dead set on an outdoor wedding.  That drives me bonkers!

That is SO crazy!! Everyone will freeze!! I mean I guess 40 isn't bad if it's sunny, but not at 6PM!!

AND, they should have planned their "outdoor wedding" for summertime!

  • Tonight: Heading to my BFF's for the weekend!!!
Tomorrow: Registering at Target with her then going hiking through the woods on her boyfriends' property.  Hopefully I can get some good Fall shots with my camera.  Then we're grilling out and having a bonfire.
Sunday: Heading home in the morning and getting some much needed yardwork done before it gets any colder here.

Yikes, so rude to their guests! Glad you'll be inside at least. In October you need a backup plan.

I was IN an outdoor November wedding last year! It was so cold and rainy! But the pictures turned out beautifully so I guess that's what matters. :/

ETA: Not in a warm state either :(

  • Tonight: Watch baseball and veg out. Maybe do a craft project.

Tomorrow: Sleep in and relish the fact that the boys are on Fall Break and I have a giant house all to myself for a few days. Oil change.

    Sunday: Much the same.

Excited for a low key lazy weekend with no plans!

Yikes!  I'll never understand why pictures trump the actual experience at weddings for so many people.

It's been raining for 2 days and it's cloudy and cold/rainy today so yeah it will be very chilly.  We have it in our contract that they need a back up location for outdoor weddings because there are conditions that are just not safe for our instruments - rain/extreme heat/ direct sun/cold/snow - if they don't accommodate us then they don't get their money back.  It's not worth it to us to do that to our instruments.  Yep, I had to call the bride and venue coordinator to explain our situation because people don't think that it's bad for our instruments.  Seriously, they go out of tune every song if it's below 60.

It's such an amazing vibe in the city right now!!  It makes it feel like a small town.

I worked like a maniac this week, and only have two meetings today, so in between I've started a deep clean of our hardwoods, but taking my sweet time.  So far, I've finished the dining room and hall way.

Tomorrow, we have errands and a birthday party for H's step-dad (they get together for EVERY birthday).

And Sunday, I have a little bit of work and hopefully a whole lot of nothing else!

Fri: Finish removing the caulk around our bathtub (this is day 3.... whereas sawing out the grout took a whopping 30 minutes), take out bathroom mirror, H begins removing the vanity and we check the new sink bowl/faucet to see what we still need to buy in terms of plumbing for it

Sat: Finish removing the vanity, remove the toilet, saw out the grout under the vanity and toilet (gross), repair the wall behind the vanity, replace the light fixture, replace the shower trim (faucet, shower head, etc), probably make a Home Depot run somewhere in the middle of all that.... and if we still have any energy left, re-grout the bathroom floor.  Make pesto-veggie pizza for dinner to reward ourselves (our favorite!)

Sun: Finish whatever we didn't finish on Saturday for the bathroom.  Finish unpacking (just a few boxes left!).  If we have time, go to the outlet mall for Columbus day clothes shopping. Put out the mums and pumpkins on our front porch for fall.

    Fun!  Ha.

If we can actually get through our list this weekend, the bathroom will be about 2/3 of the way done - it's going to be a lot of work, but it will feel awesome.

Good luck with that...  I thought ours would be a breeze to switch out...  Nope, it wasn't and we need to call a plumber to come change it out because it is a sweated in fitting and they don't really make trim kits for those anymore.

Many hours of plumbing labor, the cost of the new trim kit and possibly replacing some tile if they have to cut some out.

We've been procrastinating this project since it is in the guest bathroom upstairs, but we really should get it fixed soon.
Well the current trim isn't that bad.  We've bought a new trim kit, and we've decided that if we can't get it to work, then we're just keeping what we already have.  The old trim is Delta, and the faucet head fell off while I was de-caulking the bathtub (two nights ago... sigh), so we're crossing our fingers that it will work.

it is pretty awesome!  The game is really close tonight.  My parents bought cable for 1 month to finish out the playoffs.  They couldn't take not knowing about the games considering it's been forever since we've been there.

  • Fri - I literally got on the couch at 6pm and did not get off until 6am.  I had food poisoning or a bad virus late wednesday night into thursday then worked thursday/friday anyway so I was wiped out.  I felt bad for ignoring H and being boring, but he made me scrambled eggs so that was nice.

Sat - I spent 8-5:30 in a course for work.  dinner and hanging out at home tonight.

Sun - teaching yoga in the morning, then chores, and maybe a hike in the afternoon. H has to work all day which sucks because I was sick wed/thur/fri nights and in class all day today

Unfortunately I do not have monday off work :-( darn healthcare!   H has the day off of teaching but is going to work his other job $$ which is awesome

vlagrl29 - it's so crazy!!  Yesterday during the day at work it felt like the week of Christmas!

And it's very MM around our house today, with H trying to figure out how he's going to pay for tickets.  :)

  • Friday - volunteering at Haunted Hayrides at park system

Saturday - Meeting with a deck contractor to find out how much money we need to have saved up by next spring to replace our deck. Wish we could put it off longer but it's becoming a safety issue.

Sunday - well in the evening it will be relaxing bath time. But sometime over Saturday & Sunday we'll be doing some clean up around the house & maybe some outside stuff that needs to be as part of fall clean up. That part depends on the weather. If it's raining, we'll pull the cars out & clean/organize the garage.

Good luck with that!  I saw standing room only is around $800 per ticket and $11,000 per ticket for the lower level seats.  Parking is $400.  I've been watching every game and they played their hearts out.  I want to go to power and light if they win the world series and party with the players and get sprayed with champagne :)

Fortunately, it not worth the cost for me to go, so he only needed one ticket, and he's always really good about knowing when and how to get tickets.  He ended up getting his directly through the Royals.com for the first game (eighth row, third base line!) and about the same but a little higher up for the seventh game (wouldn't that be crazy?!).  Each less than $600.
