  Thanks ladies.  DH and I are both fairly close to the buildings, and I am often in the Parliament buildings, but we're both okay today.  At my office we've been asked to remain inside for now.  

  
  

  I'm just really sad/pissed that these terrorists are targeting soldiers.  Two soldiers were run down by an "extremist" about 2 hours from here on Monday and one died.

  An update: the soldier that was shot has died.  So sad.  

  
  

  DH and I are both under lockdown in our buildings.  Who knows when we will get home, but we are safe and that's what matters. 

  
  

  Apparently there are still unknown shooters on the loose.  One was killed by an official inside the Parliament buildings.

  The sad thing is Ottawa has had 4 murders this year. That's it. Four. We have officially doubled this number. I'm so saddened that this is how we are making news because Ottawa is a beautiful and safe city. Let's focus on all the good this city and it's people have to offer instead on two extremists. As another government employee and proud Canadian, this rocks my world...

  @lindsayandjamie is right...this is a beautiful and extremely safe city. 

  
  

  I'm just angry today. I'm angry that I'm scared for my husband to be out in public in his Army uniform.   

  
  

  A couple weeks ago, he and a few officers were out for a beer after their training one evening and a group of young guys booed them and yelled that they shouldn't be in Iraq.  (The bartender immediately brought them their bills and asked them to leave).  

  
  

  I know today and the incident at the bar shook him a bit. He and his fellow soldiers should be proud to be in public in their uniforms.

  @nfp147 I'm so sorry your husband has to worry about being in public in uniform. And that you have to worry for him. My brother and father are police officers and I worry for them as well... I hate this.
