Monday Accountability

1. How MM was your weekend?

2. Any progress towards goals?

3. What are you plans for Halloween?

Re: Monday Accountability

  • 1. I don't think we spent any money this weekend!

    2. $150 to house DP

    3. Nothing planned, no one comes to our condo for candy so maybe we'll go to a haunted house

  • Weekend was good. Dh spent $50 at home depot and that was it!
Mm progress, we got the recast documents in the mail and I'm sending them back today. It will drop our mortgage by $500 now tha we have the $ from the sale of our old house applied to the balance. We are still wanting to steadily pay that same amount, but it gives us a bit more wiggle room in case of emergencies or whatever.
We will take ds trick or treating and then there is a party one of our neighbors is throwing so we will be over there.

  • 1. $24 at the grocery store and $43 on chicken wings, burgers, and beer after the half marathon on sunday.

    2. $660 transfered to savings, and we had the contractor come in to look at the work we want done on the house.  no quote yet, but he said he gives deep discounts during the winter.

    3. nothing halloween related, I've been planning a huge benefit for the NFP ballet company I work with that is this coming saturday, friday will be spent at the theater setting-up.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Not as bad as I expected it to be.  Spent $65 on groceries and $177 at Menards for the remodel.

    2. Any progress towards goals?  Nope, but we have been able to cash flow every single expense with both the remodel and getting new tires for both of our cars.  No touching savings at all.

    3. What are you plans for Halloween?  Just handing out candy.  We have a big display in our front yard and decorate like crazy.  So we get a lot of kids and have a good time with it.

3 - Thursday DD has a halloween party at Preschool and Friday we will take her around our neighborhood for trick or treating and then come back home and hand out our own candy.

  • 1.  Well, our weekend spending wasn't too bad if you don't count mailing a $3,000 check for our boiler deposit!  Eek!  My boss did say last week that funding for my position was looking secure for the next five years so that made me feel better about our decision to pay cash.  We travelled to Maine for a conference this weekend and budgeted some extra spending money, which we were able to stay within.

    2.  I paid $100 to the savings rebuild, and H finally set up his 457 account at work.  Now he is putting away 14% pretax, which is great, but 9% is still going to a pension fund that is earning close to no interest, so we'll hopefully raise the 457 contribution amount soon.

    3.  I love Halloween, but wasn't able to spend much this year to buy decorations.  We will be home Friday night handing out candy and likely drinking pumpkin beer, and Saturday we're hoping to check out the Jack O' Lantern Spectacular at our local zoo.
  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

    Could be better.

Friday: $15 at O'reillys for some kind of part for the brakes on the Camry

Saturday: $204 for the truck's windsheild.

Sunday: $0, mowed, cleaned, changed out the duck water, and watched sappy movies ;)

    2. Any progress towards goals?

    Not this time.

    3. What are you plans for Halloween?

Trick or treating with the best little Elsa ever!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?
Not good.  We went camping, so it was pricier than usual.  $60 for campsite. $35 for camping groceries. $35 for camping alcohol. $70 on going out/food on Saturday. $30 on gas.

    2. Any progress towards goals?
Nope.  No progress this month on goals.  We traveled a ton this month.

    3. What are you plans for Halloween?
Going trick or treating with my friend and her son on Friday.  Going on a 7 mile run on Saturday, then working on my costume for this costume party that my neighborhood association holds (it is in a couple of weeks though).

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

Ours wasn't too bad.  We spent $10 for pizza ingredients and wine on Friday.  On Saturday we spent $110 on groceries, including stuff for dinner with the inlaws.  Then they visited Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning.  Sunday afternoon we bought H an ergonomic office chair at Costco for $150 and I spent about $30 on wrapping paper supplies for Christmas (also at Costco).  I was really excited to get 400 sheets of tissue paper for $6.  I think that might last me for the next 15 years...

    2. Any progress towards goals?

We managed to "catch up" our savings from September.  We are also on track to save an additional $500 more than we expected this month.  We haven't decided what this will be used for, but it's handy to have right before the holidays.

    3. What are you plans for Halloween?

We will just hand out candy to trick or treaters.  We bought a big bag at Costco, but now I'm wondering if we bought enough.  We saw some neighbors at costco, and they were buying 3 big bags.  I have a feeling that trick or treating might be more serious in our new neighborhood....

    1. How MM was your weekend? Pretty good - groceries ($124), lamps and shades for our bedroom from PB ($275 - total splurge, but they're really nice), curtains ($40- regularly $90, but we had some coupons and gift cards), new curtain rods ($15).

    2. Any progress towards goals? We closed our last CD with our bank on Friday. $6,000 ($3,000 each) of it went to our Roth IRA (2014 is all set) and the rest went into savings for now. We'll probably push $5,000 each into the girls' 529 plans after we file our 2014 taxes.

    3. What are you plans for Halloween? DH takes the girls trick-or-treating (they usually go to 6 or so houses) and I stay back and pass out candy. Our neighborhood has a ton of kids- it's usually non stop until 8:30 or so.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Pretty horrible. H and I finally sprung for a new bed. We've been sleeping on full size bed since buying our house a year ago. It hasn't been too horrible because he's usually on nightshift and we aren't sleeping together but he has a stretch of 4 months of day shift coming up and while I'm really excited to see him, I wasn't excited to sleep with him in that tiny bed for 4 months straight. With the frame and mattress/box spring it was $1500. UGH! But we got what we really wanted and paid cash, which felt good to decline the 0% interest offer. Plus we shopped around and ended up getting it for $500 cheaper than another place we looked!

I had girls night Saturday so it cost $35 for wine and snacks. Then we ordered pizza Friday for dinner $15.

    2. Any progress towards goals? Threw a little money in savings, and I'm paying off my credit cards as I'm spending on them which is a good change for me!

    3. What are you plans for Halloween? We're going to hand out candy with our neighbors then we'll be going out for the night :) I'm excited!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

Good - DH worked the whole time so we really only bought groceries which ended up taking a little meal planning creativity and some DIY but we are within budget. And now i'm planning to keep it up throughout november and see how low i can get our grocery spending!

    2. Any progress towards goals?

Won't know until the end of the week. I got my annual raise on friday which is giving us an extra 120 a month and tomorrow i'll find out the doom and gloom that is health care because ofcourse my company is completely changing everything 2 months before i'm due. oy.

    3. What are you plans for Halloween?

Eating candy. LoL We don't care much about halloween so its just another day for us right now since we don't have kids here to take trick or treating.... we'll just stay home and eat all the candy we bought for the trick or treaters that we don't get. lol

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

    It wasn't too bad.  Target $105,  Kohl's $46, Gas $36, Take out $21, Flowers for wake/funeral $100.

BC of some unexpected events this weekend I didn't get any grocery shopping done, or get to meal plan.  I will try to get some grocery shopping done tomorrow after work, if I leave at a decent time.

    2. Any progress towards goals?

No, but HD has been working crazy amount of OT.  I will transfer some money into our savings accounts this week.  I get 3 paychecks this month, think I will wait till Friday to move everything over that needs to be moved.

    3. What are your plans for Halloween?

Nothing.  We don't get any trick or treaters by our house.  When we first moved into our house, I thought being that we live in a town house we would get a lot of kids.  Safe for families to walk around etc.  Maybe we'll go out to the  movies or something?  If there's nothing playing that we want to see, than we'll stay home and relax for the  night.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Great! I took my $500 of the recently established "annual blow money" and bought a makeover fro our bedroom and a bunch of wall art for the res of the house. I have $100 left and I getting new towel rod and toilet paper holder for the bathroom next. I am glad to be improving some things finally.  H spent $3.20 on beer while I was out shopping from his blow money.

    2. Any progress towards goals? YES! I set a personal goal or 6 months to earn an extra $750 for rebuilding our E-Fund and I completed it today! It took about 26 days and a ton of extra work but I am super excited. The planets wont align quite like that again so it was a one time deal but so worth it. Now to get it all to the bank.

    3. What are you plans for Halloween? Baking cupcakes for our dorm floor with another dorm parent on Friday while he and I hand out candy to the faculty kids trick or treating. H is planning to go home for the weekend so I am on my own and car-less.

We did, thanks! We were in Freeport but didn't shop too much :) I love ME too but not sure I could hack it for the winters.
  • 1. How MM was your weekend?  Not too good, I did buy ingredients for snack balls that "twohealthykitchens" have on their website.  One of the two is married to one of our directors and finally had to make some for MW and child to try.  They love them also.  I think grocery wise I spent a little over my $100 budget.  Put my gas on credit card since I lost my debit card until I washed my work shirts on Sunday.

    2. Any progress towards goals?  Not really, I usually do this on the 1st and 15th.

    3. What are you plans for Halloween?  Did trick or treating on Saturday.  Son has his first Halloween school party on Thursday that I will have someone take videos of for me.  On Saturday, relatives having a bash at their house while watching the OSU game so will go to that for a little while, will leave before the drinking gets out of hand.

I try to remind myself that spring, summer, and fall make us for it but the winters do really suck. We still had snow on the ground on May 1st last year.  I thought I was going to cry when I flipped the calender and was still wearing boots.

    1. How MM was your weekend?  Meh.  We spent $1,250 getting our trees trimmed (fun!) but that's less than our homeowners deductible should anything happen this winter.  We also spent a little more than we should on eating out, but can reallocate from the food budget this period.  Other than that, just spent $35 on a 1st birthday gift, and $20 on a stash of fall candles.  Oh, and a trip to Trader Joe's to stock up on my friend, Charles Shaw.  :)

    2. Any progress towards goals?  We were able to throw an extra $500 at my student loan.

    3. What are you plans for Halloween?  I tried to talk H into handing out candy, but he said no.  Halloween is one of those holidays we're just not into.  I think it was all the girls in slutty costumes in college that ruined it for us.

    2. Any progress towards goals?
Not financially. We are making progress on the house projects though.
