Anyone used a body wrap to lose inches? Does it work?

I'm considering getting an at-home kit for some quick inch loss.

  • They are a scam.  They make you sweat out water weight, which you will promptly gain back when you drink any liquid.  Don't waste your money.

  • Friends have gotten it done at spas for events.  It can work very, very, very temporarily but I wouldn't expect results to last even overnight.  No idea whether the at-home kits work at all, even for a few hours.
  • I was considering done one before a Mexico trip, and a poster on TK told me that a friend of hers did it and ended up severely dehydrated and almost had to go to the hospital.

  • Yes. They work. You won't be losing fat. And when properly done, you're not losing water weight either. Legitimate body wraps act as detoxifying agents that help draw out stored biological waste and allows the body to naturally flush them.

They also do a great job of removing dead skin, leaving you soft and smooth.

I've done them in the past as part of a "feel good" day. I'd normally lose between 10 and 14 inches- but remember, those inches are ALL over the body. I'd lose 1/4 of an inch on my upper bicep, 1/8 near my elbow. 1/2 on my thigh, 1/8 on my ankle, etc.

What they did help with, however, was my energy levels.

If you're going to do one, go to a spa where they have a nutritionist and an esthetician working together. At the spa I have mine done at, the day is finished off with a pedicure while I drink a "green drink" (they do provide the ingredient list and rationale for the ingredients) as well as several glasses of water. I've always been instructed to be sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water the day of and the day after the wrap- but as long as you normally get in an appropriate amount of water, you shouldn't get dehydrated.

  • A girl on my local board sells them.  I know of at least one other Nestie that's used them and she says it works, but I don't think I'll ever try them.

  • You'd probably have better lucky just stopping carbs for a week. At least you'd get a few days out of that before you gained it back.

    IndifferentAn at-home kit?

I've done this at a spa for an event here and there. It works. Yeah, it's water weight, and no, it's not permenant weight loss. I can't say I've ever been inclined to do it at home.

And frankly, if you want to lose a few inches quickly, load up on original Fiber One and drink tons of water. The high fiber content makes it easy to feel full, but it also works as a cleanse... and clearly much better than downing some horrific mix of maple syrup...

  • reported again.  There are lots of active people on this board which is way better than using a wrap and lot less expensive.
