So, this year I am in charge of my works' Christmas party. The most experience I have with this is last year for my four year old class. This year I get to do it for about 20-30 guys, 2 females for sure and possible wives of the guys. Any ideas?

Re: NMMR Christmas Party
We have ours at a local hotel conference/reception room. We do a buffet dinner: 2 entrée options, hot veggies, salad, a potato and table of desserts. Coffee is include. We opt for a cash bar.
We do a white elephant gift exchange with a limit of $15.
We have about 100 in attendance, spouses or a guest is allowed however some just come solo.
The hotel already has the room decorated sowe don't have to fuss with that. We do small favor on the table. It's pretty cost effective and no clean up. We also do Christmas music via electronic device and speakers. Last year I think someone used their iPod.
The bowling sounds like a great idea!
I'm in nonprofit as well. Our Christmas party is the only real event we have so we try to make it nice however our budget is still pretty small! We do a low key summer picnic but it's a potluck so very cheap.
