doctor rant
So I had put on the ttc board that I was waiting on results from my doctor about my 3 hour test. They said they would call by tuesday but I had an appt today and they tell me it came back 1 point high on my fasting so now I have to go see the diabetes educator soon and test my blood sugar 4 times a day. oh and change my diet.
1. if you called me when you said you would, I wouldnt be livid like I am now, and I could have worked on getting the appt scheduled. Also I already know what the diabetes educator is going to tell me since my H is diabetic and my mom was diabetic before she got sick. and I already eat a healthy diet so I can see them telling me no more soda or coffee but I dont drink caffeine, I stick with water all the time. And that I will need to eat more fruits and veggies but I already eat the daily required amount. I snack on fruit when I am hungry at work. Oh and to count calories and decrease the number I eat but when I counted them last year I found that I tend to eat less than the min required. (I was eating under 1200 a day it wasnt a diet it was just eating when I was hungry)
2. I cant even have my phone at work so I highly doubt testing my blood sugar 4 times a day is going to happen. I refuse to lose my job over 1 point high 3 hour test by bringing in an unauthorized electronic device to work
3. Since you are setting up my diabetes education appt that more than likely will not fit my schedule. I will have to take precious leave that I really cant afford to take as of the time I am slated to go on ML I will have just over 8 weeks saved. I refuse to go unpaid because we really cant afford to go without my paycheck.
4. also now I have to go to the hospital for ultrasounds every 4 weeks until baby gets here which will cost me $85 each time since the hospital has figured out how to charge me a copay (which I shouldnt owe but they wont do the scan unless I pay upfront) and the hospital charges for outpatient diagnostic testing even though its in a doctors office located at the hospital and I am no admitted to the hospital for the test but they charge the insurance that I was. Also again I will have to take my precious leave I do not have to waste because they schedule them earlier than I get off work which again leads to me going unpaid on ML which financially I really cant afford.
Oh and to add to the delay in testing information, I remember in my first tri the doctor asking about the cf test and that the lab tech in the office took the test that same day and on my next visit the doctor said it was good. Now they want to have me take the test again because they have no record of the testing and they want to send it to another lab which my insurance doesnt cover so I will have to pay for the testing out of pocket but they dont know how much that is going to be. Also 2 weeks ago they ran blood work and the doctor said it would be the last of the blood work needed for the pregnancy as long as my 1 hour glucose test came back normal (obviously it didnt, again it was 'slightly over' so they required the 3 hour test). Oh and did I mention I took the 1 hour and 3 hour test back in my first tri because they said I had a high risk of it and the 1 hour came back 'slightly high' but my 3 hour came back normal.
At this point if its going to be such a hassle and a way to grab more money out of my pocket which I really need to save for the BABY COMING, I say just take the baby out now, I done!
I know they cant/wont since I'm only 31 weeks and not full term but I'm frustrated with my doctors office lately and the appt today just kind of put me over the top. I love my main doctor in the practice (its a practice with 7 doctors, 2 are new since this summer) but the one I saw last week (one of the new ones) rubbed me the wrong way and basically made it seem like I was going to have gd even though they had only ran the first test and hadnt sent the tests to the lab.

I hope you are able to work this out with as little stress as possible.
Even though both parents and most of my family are diabetic I found the education thing helpful. They gave me carb counts for my meals and snacks. Fruits are very high in carbs so snacking on them isn't too good. They gave me 2000 calories, plenty to eat, but only 30 carbs a meal, 60 for dinner.
