GTKY: DH and I
DH and I went to middle school and high school together, but we didn't hang out in the same group of friends until the end of our Senior year. We were actually even on the same recreational soccer team at some point but don't remember each other. Anyway, at the end of Senior year, my best friend started hanging out with his best friend, so we ended up hanging out. One night, a few of us went out for a movie, and when we were done I followed DH home (I lived right down the road from him). He was in his new truck, I was in my beater civic. It was totally a movie moment, I'll try to explain it the best I can. We were making a big left turn (around one of those big sweeping mountain road curves) and I saw him sitting in his truck, looking so confident. I don't know what came over me, but I realized in that moment "I think I like him." The next day at school, I started getting a little more flirty. We wrote notes to each other in class (on his iPad, so high tech, lol) Less than a week later, we went to Prom together and started dating.
We got married on our 4 year anniversary, May 19, 2012. We had been living together for over two years prior to that, and had we been any older when we started dating, we probably wouldn't have waited so long to get married. We knew it was forever pretty much right away. I can't describe our relationship in any other way but saying that we are perfect for each other. We are the type that, while going through a difficult situation, actually get closer and lean on each other rather than argue and take the stress out on each other. We have very different personalities, but each of us helps the other with our faults. He was very quiet and had a bit of an temper (Italian), I was really bad at standing up for myself and had a money spending problem. We both have made each other more balanced.
