We have friends who just bought a house and we are helping them move in this Saturday if they close on Friday. If not, it will be the following week.
1. Do I need have a housewarming gift for moving day?
2. What kinds of things can I buy them? They're already married and lived in an apartment before this house. They are big foodies and love alcohol!
TIA!
Re: Housewarming gift ideas?
A bottle of wine/ infused olive oil since they are foodies
Bag of coffee
Picture frame
Candle warmer
A fall wreath for their front door
A gift card to a local restaurant so when they are unpacking they can go out guilt free one evening.
If it's their first house (many of my friends are just buying their first houses) I like to buy a fruit basket and fill it with condiments. It's usually a hit.. I fill it with ketchup, mustard, old bay, salt, pepper, etc.
Oops I just saw they currently have an apartment, so this might not be helpful.
I really loved our home depot/lowes gifts cards we got when we bought our house. They came in handy!
Also you can't go wrong with gift cards to your local home improvement store because there is always something they can find there, light bulbs, tools, yard tools. Things that you typically don't need as an apartment dweller, but do need as a home owner. They can also get things like paint, curtains, etc. Another type of store you can't go wrong with is Target, the the couple can get new food prep items now that they may have more space, or curtains, or other items to decorate their new home.
