Our Wedding:
We got married 02-20-2010 in South Georgia. It was 75 and gorgeous! I had a Maid and a Matron of Honor; DH had a best man and 5 groomsmen. Our colors were chocolate, sage, and tangerine with touches of ivory. We invited around 500 people, and had about 275 attend. We got married outside on a patio overlooking a small cyprus pond, and we had our reception inside the building in a large room that basically looks like a gymnasium when it isn’t decorated.
We took the vast majority of our pictures before we got married. Our ceremony started at 5:30pm and only lasted 20-30 minutes. After that, we took a few more pictures while our guests had a cocktail “half hour” with fruit, cheese, and drinks. DH and I got the first look at our reception space (I wanted to make sure we got to see it before the reception started). I couldn’t believe how amazingly beautiful it was! DH and I decided to have breakfast foods for our evening reception. We both love breakfast, and it was very “us”. We had a buffet line with scrambled eggs, bacon, link sausage, biscuits and gravy, butter and cheese grits, corned beef hash (DH’s family is all Yankee), and smoked salmon. We two pancake and waffle stations with add ons like whipped cream, syrup, and berries. We also had two custom omelet stations where people could custom order an omelet, and the attendant would prepare it for them. We also had a coffee bar with regular and decaf coffee, and we also had alcoholic and non-alcoholic additives (Bailey’s, Frangelico, vanilla flavoring, and hazelnut flavoring). We also had cinnamon rolls at the end of the coffee bar! Our food was amazing, and I would do it the same way if I had to do it again!
We had a DJ and lots of dancing and eating at our reception. It was so much fun. We had a 5 tier cake, which was fabulous. Layers 1, 3, and 5 were a yellow cake with peach jelly-ish filling with chunks of peaches in it, and layers 2 and 4 were a chocolate cake with a Kahlua buttercream filling. The entire cake was covered with a cream cheese buttercream icing. DH’s “grooms cake” was supposed to be bread pudding, but the caterer forgot to make it. DH hates icing, which is why he wanted bread pudding instead of a cake. Oh well, you can’t have everything perfect! Our wedding was incredible, and we had such an amazing time with our family and friends!
