Graco Pack'N Play w/ Newborn Napper

I'm slowly starting our registry and researching all the different products out there.  I came across the Pack'N Play with Newborn Napper and I think this may be a winner for us.  We will be living with my parents until our house is done and we'll have the baby before that time comes.  I've been reading on other blogs, but I haven't been able to find any solid information on the safety of these.  This would be an ideal item for us since we won't have a lot of room, but I'm wondering if it's really safe.  Has anyone used this as a sleeping solution early on?  I'm also a little confused on all the different parts.  I think the bassinet is the one that cushions the baby all around (wouldn't this increase the risk of SIDS?) and the changing table is the flatter one, but what is the floating section between the removable top pieces and the bottom?  I hope this all makes sense.  I'm exhausted and should probably go to bed, but I'm obsessing right now. lol

  • Thanks @madeline10L.  Is that flat section strong enough to hold the baby?  Right now, I think I'd feel more comfortable with the baby sleeping on that, but worried about the stability of it.

  • @mrshall1027 there should be a weight limit listed. I think for our P&P, the upper section was good up to a certain weight, and then we just removed it. Ours only had a changing station which worked for MIL (we keep the p&p there for when she watches W), but he maxed out on the weight so she changes him on a bed.

  • Great!  Thanks for the input.  I'm debating also getting a rock n play in case the baby likes that better, but I really like the pack n play design and how it can be used for much longer than a rock n play.

  • It's hard to say what you'll really need until baby gets here!
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too!  I figure I'll register for the PNP with the hopes of someone purchasing that and if the baby doesn't like it, H and I can always run and get a RNP bassinet.  I just would like to avoid purchasing items that will only be used for a short period of time.
