Ghostly story

It's been a while since I've told all of you about Betsy's antics.  She's upset because we're moving.  Well, maybe upset isn't the right word.  It's creating more activity because we have boxes piled everywhere.  It looks like the beginning part of a renovation.  (Wait until they start ripping out carpets and stuff.)

So a couple of weeks ago, I had just sat down to relax for a few minutes when I saw a little orangey yellow ball of light head from our living room into the wall.  I didn't think anything of it as I've seen them before.  Now that I think about it, the color was odd.  They're normally pure white when I see them.  A few minutes later, the curtains sitting closest to me fluttered out nearly to the point where they touched me.  Both the cat and dog were on me by this point so it wasn't them.

Fast forward to last night, I went into the hallway to start cleaning out that closet when I felt like Betsy was standing really close to my left side.  I could feel the tightening/tingling on my scalp that signals she's there.  It almost felt like she was leaning over me with her hand on my left shoulder trying to see what I was doing.  So I came out and told mh.  And what did my paranormal investigating mate do?  Absolutely nothing because he packed all the equipment yesterday and totally forgot about the apps on his phone.

We're talking over whether we're going to invite her to our new place or not.

Re: Ghostly story

  • I was wondering whether or not she'd come with you to your new place.

My sister has a ghost that's followed her through several houses.  I think she'd miss her if she wasn't there.

  • I've been wondering lately if she's related to one of us.  It would be nice.

I don't know if she'll tag along without an invite.  I've asked him a couple of times and all I get is, "I don't know."  It's never been a threatening presence but it might be nice to avoid a quietly creepy factor in a new place for a while.  On the other hand, she's been with us so long that it would be weird otherwise.

  • I don't want to come across as nosy, but I am fascinated by this and am wondering what more you are willing to share about Betsy? Is that what you both call her or did you do research to determine that is her name? Also you've mentioned before that she's never been a threatening presence before; what has her presence been like? What kinds of things has she done in the past to communicate or let you know she was there? I probably have a million more questions, but again I don't want to be nosy lol.

  • Feel free to ask!  It's fine.

We've known pretty much from the beginning of our time there that we had a presence.  Periodically, we would hear a female voice call out, "Hello?" three times in rapid succession.  We had a roommate so it could have been her but we weren't on the best of terms.  One night, Hubs and I were coming in from a date night when we heard the female voice.  I knew my roommate was home so I knocked on her door.  Not hearing anything, I cracked it a bit to poke my head in and say hi.  Hell (roommate) was fast asleep so it couldn't have been her.

We started watching the paranormal investigative shows and eventually found a group that went out on investigations.  Hubs joined first and was playing with some toys in the house.  One of his meters had a word recognition file which would allow entities to manipulate energy to create words.  I forget what it's called.  It was Christmas Eve and I was doing the dishes when I felt this crazy energy flood over my body.  I called him in with the whatever meter and we started asking questions.  One of the words that came up was the name "Betsy."  And that's what we've called her ever since.

She seems to like Hubs better than me though.  She's more active when he's alone than with me.  He has a computer stand in the living room that started shaking on its own a week or so ago.  One year on his birthday, I found a "Happy Birthday" decoration lying on the floor in the living room.  It wasn't anything we'd had in the house.

The cat and dog will periodically watch something walk from the hallway into the kitchen.  Always from the hall to the kitchen.  Never the other way.  Once I thought I saw a glimpse of a man out of the corner of my eye but we have no clue if that's just residual.  Betsy's intelligent and interacts with us.

I tried to do some research on the property where our apartments are but I can't find much.  The tax records only go back to the 80s as it's passed from property management company to PMC.  I know that the complex was built in the 60s and no other research I've done has yielded who the original owners were.  I've tried genealogies and newspaper databases to no avail.
