Trick-or-Treaters

I cannot get over how RUDE the majority of our trick-or-treaters were!  Do you know how many times I opened the door and they didn't say ANYTHING?  No, "Trick-or-treat!"  No, "Happy Halloween!"  No, "Hello."  Nothing!  So, as you can imagine, "Thank you" was not something I heard much either.  And they just lunged right for the candy.  It makes me sick just thinking about it!

I bet these shenanigans don't go down in Middletown!

Re: Trick-or-Treaters

  • That's sad! The parents in our neighborhood always made them say trick or treat and thank you!

  • Even the teenagers that came to my house were super polite. Some of the little guys, I get because they have this "stranger danger!!" look on their faces, but they always said thank you.
  • @janma529 This is why I avoided trick or treaters this year.  We went to dinner and the movies instead.  It was GREAT.

That's what my parents do, haha.

There are a lot of families in our neighborhood who have immigrated to the US, so I'm wondering if it's a cultural thing..?  The kids' parents are the same people who never smile or wave back when I say hello.
  • Most of our trick or treaters were older and all said Happy Halloween or trick or treat. I was very surprised.

  • Since we only have a few houses on our street and almost no one participates (I left a bowl out and it was completely untouched when we came home!), we went to my ILs. The majority of the kids were super polite and well behaved. There were one or two punks but those specific kids always act like that so I wasn't surprised.
