Is this good insurance?

edited November 2014 in Money Matters
Just started a new job ... Insurance is as follows... (It's a PPO only) $354 a month for a family of 4 $1000 deductible Copay is $15 for visits Prescriptions are $20 max Coverage after deductible is 80/20 Small towns so pretty much everyone doc accepts the medical coverage

Re: Is this good insurance?

  • sounds reasonable to me, the deductible seems a little high, I think our company offered a choice in PPO plans between one with a $500 deductible and a $750 deductible. it was $200/month for H and I and co-pays are higher than yours.

    is there an OOP maximum?

  • The OOP maximum is about $500 more for deductible and only $5 more for copays

Your OOP max is $1500.00? That's pretty good.

I can't recall what's withheld from H's payroll for insurance premiums but we have an individual deductible of $300 or $600 for the family. After the deductible, we pay 15%. Our individual OOP max is $2300.00 or $5600.00 for the family. It's a PPO plan.

Our Rx coverage is through a different insurance company. We rarely use it.
