When DH and I had been together for just over a year, a kitten with no tags walked right in a friend's door in our building. They set him up with a few things and went about asking all of their friends who wanted a cat. DH and I met him, and despite what we later found out was a permanent sinus infection, we couldn't resist. We named him Apollo, and he's almost 4 1/2 now. PIP from when we first got him:
When we had had Apollo for a few months, it became clear he was going to need a friend, so we went looking for our Artemis. Eventually, we found her at our local shelter. She was about 3 months old, and here she is in the play room at the shelter standing in front of a 3-4-inch drain cover:
Artemis is about 3 1/2 now, and still weighs less than 6 pounds. It's freaking adorable. In contrast to Apollo's high-energy, friendly nature, Artemis is generally pretty mellow and takes a long time to warm up to new people. They're both really great cuddle bugs, though.
