Christmas/Holiday Decorations
It's just around the corner! Since this is our first year in our new home, I am very excited to put up some outdoor decorations. H has more conservative taste then me, but we've agreed on white lights on some of our landscaping, a wreath on our door, and perhaps decorative stakes of some sort in the ground. We'll also put "candles" in all of our windows. My mom has lots of extra that she's willing to give us, which is really nice.
Those of you who have been homeowners for a while, where have you found the best deals on outdoor holiday decorations?

If you can wait two weeks wait for black friday & go to Home Depot or Lowes if they have stuff on sale. We found an awesome trick to black friday shopping at Lowes. You can go and order the stuff on line for black friday prices & do store pickup & you can do it before the store opens. So the staff goes & grabs your stuff for you & you just go to the service desk to pick up & pay and you can pick it up at any point of the day, like after the crowds die down.
Wow, $35 a tree is really low! I've never seen it that low around here (granted I avoid Home Depot, roadside stands, etc.). Maybe I need to research a bit more!
I know you're new england, I don't remember where....I PM'd you my family's webpage
Thanks! I'm in RI but have family in NH and head that way periodically.
I buy things like wrapping paper after Christmas, but I do find that lights tend to go on clearance before as well (at least here at Canadian Tire they do). They're just not returnable past the 24th usually, which makes sense.
We make some tree ornaments and things like paper snowflakes, and I give each of the kids one new ornament per year. I used to buy those packs of like 100 ornaments in a package all in the same colour scheme, but I realized not only are they very cheap construction, they're also rather bland and soulless, imo. I gave some away and used other pieces strung to fishing line for window, rather than tree, decoration.
