Books for Tweens?

I'm trying to come up with some books to get my niece for Christmas, but I'm a little lost. Any suggestions? She's 12, and a fairly advanced reader. She's into swimming and gymnastics, so books that include those would be a plus but not necessary.

Re: Books for Tweens?

  • The Pretty Little Liars series? One of the girls is a swimmer, I think. Or maybe the content in those is too mature?

    The Egypt Game is an old one, but I LOVED it.

    Ella Enchanted

    Whale Talk (I have no idea about this one, just saw it on Good reads)

    The Sisterhood of the traveling Pants Series

    Push Girl

  • I have a niece that turned 13 last month.  She read the Hunger Games triology, Divergent trilogy, Twilight series and Vampire Academy this past year.  She's reading Harry Potter right now.  I think some of those books might be a little mature for her age group, but she loved them all.

  • My 11 year old reads mostly middle grade but really loved Mockingjay. She didn't read the other two (don't even get me started). She also likes the Ever After High series by Shannon Hale and all of those abysmal text speak books by Lauren Myracle.

    Her almost 12 year old friend is an advanced reader and absolutely LOVED the Divergent series. She saw the film first and loved the books so much I gave her my copies of Allegiant and Insurgent because I'm not going to read them. She also really liked Lauren Oliver's Delirium series.

    @pinkybooklover09 STOP IT RIGHT NOW.

    At least you didn't tell her she really should start with the first book in the series like @young_love would have had the gall to do, right?

    LOL
