GTKY: Furbaby! PIP of course
Jasmine entered our family on July 1, 2014, two days prior to closing on our first home. She is a purebred German Shepherd and is mostly sable in color. She was part of a litter of 11 and I don’t doubt that right now, she would dominate them all. Don’t get me wrong – she is absolutely gentle and means well, but when she plays with larger dogs (my sister’s two labs and our friend’s Rottweiler), she puts them on their butts and stands over top of them. It’s hysterical. Get her around small humans (i.e. children) and she hides behind me. If I approach the kids, she’ll come with me, but if they approach her, she hides behind me. It’s ridiculously cute.
In our home, DH is majorly alpha dog and definitely puts her in her place. When they play, she’ll submit to him in an instant and if he corrects her, she pouts away from us for a little bit, knowing that she made him upset. We have been extremely lucky with house-training but we’re still working on her curiosity of what is on the kitchen counters. She hasn’t gotten any human food and the only non-toy demolition was a sandal of mine when DH thought she was chewing on a bone. Whoops!
