GTKY: Wedding
We got married in January of 2011 after an almost two year
engagement. We got married in the lodge at a state park in Illinois.
We picked the venue because it's gorgeous every season of the year,
and it was really convenient to have our ceremony, reception, and our
hotel all in the same place. Our colors were black and red with
accents of silver, which went perfectly with the snowy white scenery. It was a wonderful winter day, despite the 4 below zero
temperature. After our reception, we changed into our sweats and met
our family and friends in the bar. Around midnight, it started to
snow, the most perfect, magical kind of snow. Big, fat, wet
snowflakes that fell in slow motion. Ted and I went outside on the
balcony, just the two of us to get a better look at the view. It was
the perfect night, so peacefully quiet like it always is during a
snowfall. Sometimes I still get teary-eyed thinking of that night,
our own little after party, during the most perfect snowfall.
We spent the next day bar hopping around the town with two sets of our friends and ordering pizza late at night. It was the perfect weekend; I wouldn't change a thing. We had a few issues, but nothing big enough to take up much room in my memory.
