    ditto @JennaHack tell your dr to shove it @Sewilson33 everyone carries differently. some people don't gain anything in the beginning and some all at the end. I was one that gained all at the end, and boy did I gain! you've got a baby in there so don't let anyone stress you out
    I was a little pissed because the nurse from 4 weeks ago let me take of my shoes and deducted 2 lbs for clothes and food.
    The nurse this week told me to leave my boots on and wouldn't re-weigh me. According to my weight from this morning I have already gained 25 lbs and I'm not even 7 months yet so my doctor is asking me to start eating differently and light exercise.

    I'm hoping exercise for 4 weeks will help me emotionally work through this last appointment.

    I wouldn't worry.  As long as you're not living the mindset of "I'm eating for two", you'll be fine.  I gained 42 pounds and my OB never said a word.  I had to ask her if I should be concerned.  She said everyone gains differently depending on your body type, height, how much water you retain, etc.  I lost it all by 9 weeks PP and I wasn't even trying.  Don't stress about it and just enjoy your pregnancy.

    Don't worry about it much.  I gained 23 pounds by 6.5 months, and even asked the midwife if I needed to do something different.  She told me that my weight gain was just fine and there was nothing wrong with it.

    Exercise definitely won't hurt anything.  Am I correct in remembering that you some exercise before getting pregnant, right?  Even just walking for 30minutes/day on the treadmill may make you feel better.  Heck, I ran a half marathon at 20 weeks and have still put on a lot more weight than I thought.  It's given me really bad body images of myself, but I have also struggled with my weight my entire life.  So just getting a few walk/jogs in each week makes me feel better about it.

  • Thanks for talking me back off the ledge ladies!! I know everyone gains differently I was just shocked and then my doctor added concern to the appointment.
    @brij2006 - I USED TO exercise regularly and then I became so terrified I would hurt myself doing it that I just stopped, then I lost motivation. Now I am going to get back on the horse. I have started using my elliptical in small intervals and I am going to a prenatal yoga class this weekend.
    @jennahack - 42 lbs weight loss in 9 weeks!! I hope I'm like you!!

    ***Sorry for taking over HDBD with my doctor appointment!!**

  • @sewilson33 Just go slow and listen to your body.  Start off with minimal or no resistance, then bump it up as you feel comfortable.
    Really at this point, the exercise is just going to make you feel better about the gain.  Your body is hoarding the weight that it needs to keep you and baby going.

  • @Sewilson33‌ if it makes you feel any better, with my first, I weight trained, did spin, swam, yoga, ever thug at least 4x a week and I put on 37lbs by 37w. I'm 37w now and have put on 35lbs with this pregnancy with virtually no scheduled exercise, just running after my 2yr old, walking and swimming at home over the summer. Some of that is muscle loss, but I also chalk it up to your body will gain what it will gain as long as you take care not to over indulge too often. Also, my midwife doesn't even weigh me at our visits. It just isn't that important unless you start packing on weight suddenly and they are concerned for an underlying condition (ex pre-e, gd) etc. The benefits of exercise during pregnancy are well touted, but diet is much more important to weight management.
