Moving in early January, when to start packing?

The old renters are moving on December 31st, we will then proceed to clean up the place, repaint and move in. Now we are leaving for Mexico December 15 to 22 and BF only wants to start packing after the trip. But with the holidays being spent away at his family, I don't see when. I'd like to start packing as soon as possible (I'm excited!) but i don't want to put to much on him (he is working long hours lately, 12 to 13 hour shifts), and since we live in a bachelor, only the day to day stuff is not packed.

Pack your own stuff that you are not using/won't use until after the move if you are so eager to pack.

Or - start by going thru closets, cupboards etc and weeding things out - eliminating those thing you no longer need/use - DON"T MOVE STUFF YOU DO NOT WANT OR NEED!

This you can do on your own without his assistance.

Day to day stuff can easily be packed in a short period of time just prior to the move .

I would start as early as possible. Better to be packed and ready then stressing over it later

I agree with the start eliminating thing. Just talking about buying a house made us clean darn near every closet in our apartment. Now we just need to get through this rain so we can clean the garage.

Start cleaning out closets & purging as the other PP said. Like pack your off season clothing. Kitchen appliances that you rarely use but don't want to get rid of because you do use them on occasion. Don't pack up so much though that you are living out of the boxes. However, the more you can do in advance, the less stressful things will be down the road.
