Weekend Reading

Read anything good over the holiday weekend?

Re: Weekend Reading

  • I finished Yes, Please on audio (it was amazing), Not That Kind of Girl (not a fan), and Broken Monsters (so disturbing).  I started Black Swan, White Raven, a collection of dark fairy tale retellings.

  • I finished Tony Danza's book about teaching in Philly.  It was ok.  As a teacher, it was partially interesting to hear his side of things and partially annoying to see how little formal teaching he did.

I also started rereading Mockingjay.  I did not finish it before seeing the movie yesterday, but I got almost to the end of the first movie.  It was great to have all of the book details fresh while watching the movie.

  • I finally finished Lover Reborn.  It felt like I had been reading it forever.  I also started I'll Give You the Sun.
    - Jocelyn my read shelf:
Jocelyn's book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)
  • I read The Look of Love by Sarah Jio.  I am a big fan of hers, usually LOVE her books.  I just thought this one was ok.  Gave it a 3, it was just an average story.  I was a bit disappointed since I look forward to her books.

Read a little of Blue Lily, Lily Blue.  Going slow because I'm not that into it, sorry :(

  • Sleep beat reading this weekend. I didn't read a single word.

I know, I was sad.  It's still worth reading, I just didn't love it like her other stories.

  • I had a GREAT reading weekend.

Revival (Stephen King) - I felt like this book took a long time to get to the meat of the story. But it was sufficiently King-y getting there, so I still enjoyed it!

The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry - LOVED THIS BOOK. Just loved it. It wasn't at all what I expected. I somehow avoided hearing or reading anything about this book prior to reading it.

We Were Liars - Another winner. I also didn't hear or read anything much about this one. I liked the twist, although I guessed at it a little bit.

  • I started Splendor falls by Susanna Kearsley.
I am going back and forth between two books on my kindle. The North Pole by Robert Peary and The Pole by Eric Walters. One is the memoir of the expedition, the other a YA fic account written over 100 years later. So fascinating.
