T&P Request
For the past week, my grandfather hasn't been doing well at all. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease almost 15 years ago. We took care of him at home for as long as we could, but he has been in a nursing home for the 7 years. Lately, he's been battling one opportunistic infection after another and seizures. As of the weekend, he can no longer swallow. My hope is that his suffering will end soon and that he will be at peace. I booked a last minute flight for tonight so that I can be with my family. H will join me later as he can't take that much time off from work right now.
Silver lining in the story, today is my birthday and at least I get to be with my family for it. Also, my family in Italy surprised me with a phone call to wish me a happy birthday this morning. I'm trying to see the light at a difficult time.
