What's Cooking?

Week Dinner Menu 11/30/14

We did have power for the last 3 days!  Just got it back today.  Trying to clean up the house today.

Sunday: Thai takeout
Monday: Shrimp and leek sauté over pasta
Tuesday: Maple glazed salmon with hash browns and salad
Wednesday: Beef stew
Thursday: Beef stew
Friday: I'll probably just eat something quick because my in laws arrive that night- just a couple hours after I get home from work.  I'm making shrimp ceviche for an evening snack when they arrive.
Saturday and Sunday: we'll be taking day trips with my in laws, so eating out, but I will be making bigger breakfasts than normal- parmesan baked eggs one day and pancakes the other.

  • Why don't you like cilantro???  I would use it in everything if I could.  However, I've made this recipe without cilantro and it's still good: http://www.epicurean.com/featured/coconut-shrimp-ceviche-recipe.html
  • Cilantro has an extremely overpowering bitter flavor for me, and I can strongly taste even very small pieces. If cilantro is in a dish, then that is about all I can taste. It basically masks the other flavors of the dish. I avoid cilantro at all costs!

Is cilantro commonly found in most ceviche? Your recipe looks really good, and I will have to try to make that!

  • Yes, cilantro is pretty common in ceviche is one of the most common herbs in several Latin styles of cooking and Indian cooking.  Eh I have an unnatural hatred of cod and haddock, so I get it.
