Re: Post Thanksgiving Check-in

  • We had a Thanksgiving great day at my in laws. We went home to put Abby to bed around 9pm and were invited to a bonfire at my bil's so we went. Usually if it is Abby's bedtime we don't go, but we made an exception. I am so glad we did. It was fun sottong around the bonfire and talking. The stars were very clear and beautiful. We got home around 11. Abby fell asleep on the way home so we just transfered her to her bed and that was it.

We didn't do any Black Friday shopping. I haven't been to a store on Black Friday since I stopped working in retail 3 years ago. I don't miss it at all.

We put our tree and the other indoor decorations up yesterday. I still have to put some decorations up outside. I also want to create a snowman on the door like I saw on Pinterest.

We are almost done shopping for Abby. I found a wagon on Craigslist today and we are getting it tomorrow. I think dh will pick something out for her still and then she will be done. I am making cute snowman mugs for most of our family and putting hot chocolate packets and candycanes in them. We are going to get pictures made for our parents. I have to order the things I'm getting dh.

I found out today Abby is approved for our state's insurance. I've been so worried about insurance the past couple of weeks, but now we have things figured out. I can breate a sigh of relief until this time next year.

  • We went to my parents. It was a nice relaxing day.  Yesterday, we did go shopping in the afternoon.  Most of the crowds had died down.  We didn't buy anything.  It was nice to be out.  Today J worked for a little bit and I cleaned the floors.  Otherwise its a lazy weekend around here. We thought about going to a movie today but there wasn't anything we really wanted to see.  I really just wanted popcorn.

We don't have a tree so no decorating for us.
  • We spent Wed/Thurs at my grandparents. My parents came from KS. We did not go shopping on Friday. I picked up my new glasses and we decorated for Christmas.

  • I decorated for Christmas a week ago. Thanksgiving was spent at my parents. It was a lazy day. My family has been battling a bug this week. We did some extreme spending. Between my husband and I we bought bunk beds, washer, dryer, camera, recliner, side table, 2 bed in a bag for twin beds, sunglasses, boots, a couple games as gifts, booster seat, air compressor and ladder.

I hosted Thanksgiving at my house. It was nice, except for the fact that my brother didn't come (he suffers from severe depression) and my sister was in a big fight with her boyfriend so he wasn't there. We can never get the entire family together. It is always something. Anyway, I went to one store on Black Friday and ended up getting DH some nice clothes that I will give him for Christmas. He is in need since he dropped some weight. Friday afternoon/evening we went to Longwood Gardens. It is a big garden/estate that is decorated nicely for Christmas. I had planned to get many nice pictures of Liliana and use them as her Christmas photos. Well she did not cooperate. She just wanted to run everywhere. I am so disappointed. I have to get her dressed up and try again some where else.

  • Worked from 5:30-11am. went to my dad's side for Thanksgiving, which was a lot of fun. Then headed to my mom's side for dessert where my entire family was there. Was a little loud and overwhelming but put up the tree at my mom's house. She likes doing it on Thanksgiving because it's the only time before Christmas we all get together now that my sister and I are "grown ups." = ) Finally, headed to my in laws for a bit and then went home. Hubby and I made some hot chocolate and watched A Muppet's Christmas Carol (my favorite!)

Really didn't do much on Black Friday except some homework and apartment cleaning. Saturday, hubby had to work in the morning so I did some more homework and laundry. Then we did a little bit of Christmas shopping and running around. Came home and put up the tree and some decorations.

Today, I am writing my last paper that is due tomorrow (!! I am so ready for this semester to be over with. it's been kicking my butt.) and finishing decorating. Not ready to go back to work tomorrow.

  • I can tell I haven't been at work for a few days... I never get on here otherwise.

We went to his grandparents for dinner, which was nice, but it was a stressful morning. J was in a bad mood, and refused to help me clean, because we knew people were going to stop by to see the house. That got me stressed, and I completely underestimated just how long it takes to peel and chop 10 pounds of potatoes. So we were late. But other than that, it was a good day. My parents did go, so it was a lot better than I had imagined.

Went out black Friday shopping, but we didn't go until later, and by later, I mean not midnight. But mostly, it was actually not that crowded. The only store that was horrible was Petsmart. I even went to target, and that was almost normal. Almost everything I bought was gifts, but I got a few things for my craft room otherwise, because they were good deals.

I spent the rest of the weekend cleaning, decorating, and getting things done on my to do list. We don't have our tree yet, but I have the rest of the house done, I think. It's not the easiest, because I'm starting from scratch and not everything has it's place yet.

I did get to go out to breakfast with my mom though yesterday. That was lovely.

And I've always wanted to go to longwood gardens, but I never seem to get there.
