I am trying to figure out a few books to get my mom for Christmas. She likes historical romances and I know she likes a couple of the books by Fern Michaels. I am not really familiar at all with this genre so I need help. Nothing too racy, I don't want to buy my mom porn ;)

    How about Jojo Moyes' "The Girl You Left Behind," or "The Last Letter from your lover?" Both very good, and jump between current day and another time ... in the first, it's set in WWII German occupied France (and current day London), and the latter is set I believe in the 1950's or 1960's in London. 

    Or, "Letters from Skye" was fantastic, and a lot like the Jojo Moyes books in that it jumped from present to past. It was so lovely and compelling.

    Does she do Christian fiction?

    Or anything by Kristina McMorris.  Letters From Home was my favorite.  I just bought it for my brother's girlfriend for Christmas

    The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley is wonderful! As are most of her others I've read; Marianna, The Winter Sea, The Firebird.

    I also agree with Letters from Skye, I loved it!
