Best YA of 2014?

Ok, I'm putting together a big YA order for the library.  I want to include the best books of 2014, particularly those released in the last two months or so.  Suggestions?

  • If you don't have the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, a lot of people REALLY love that one. You should get it.

    Yep. February '14.

I really enjoyed STITCHING SNOW by RC Lewis. It's a futuristic sci-fi retelling of Snow White.

    I wrote this!
  • No Place To Fall by Jaye Robin Brown is a debut YA contemp that just came out yesterday that is really great.

  • All three of our nestie author books as everyone else mentioned
    Dreams of Gods and Monsters
    Blue Lily, Lily Blue
My True Love Gave to Me
Heir of Fire (this is the latest of the Sarah J. Maas series)
    Isla and the HEA

The last one is a book of feminist fairytale poetry. It wasn't something I totally went nuts over myself, but I got a copy at ALA and thought a lot of the poems were really clever and might really speak to an an actual teen in the midst of some of the situations in the poems.

  • I'm sure plenty of young girls looked forward to the City of Heavenly Fire by Clare and The One by Cass. I very much enjoyed Dreams of Gods and Monsters and Cress and Ruin and Rising, which we discussed at length here.  The Blood of Olympus came out in 2014.

I just started the Throne of Glass series, so I'm looking forward to Heir of Fire, as well.

  • My favorite this year was Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson. I LOVED LOVED LOVED it.

    Also:
    Jackaby by William Ritter
    Noggin by John Corey Whaley
    Can I marry them all?

  • Nestie books are obviously on the list!  I've also added Belzhar, Jackaby, Noggin, Isla, I'll Give You the Sun, Say What You Will, The Walled City, The Infinite Sea, Ruin and Rising, and then my boss added Let's Get Lost and Atlantia.  How does that sound?

  • Oh and we've already got The One, Dreams of Gods and Monsters, Young Elites, and The Geography of You and Me.  I think I'll go ahead and stick Throne of Glass on there too.

  • That sounds like an awesome list!

  • How about the My True Love Gave to Me anthology? I am only about halfway through it, but it is already one of my YA favorites for the year.
