TGIF

What's everyone up to this weekend?

Tonight is our company Christmas dinner at Roaring Fork in downtown Austin.  I'm excited about it because they serve the best corn bread stuffing and green chili mac n cheese!!  And, I bought a new pretty dress that I get to wear. :)

Tomorrow, we are meeting our builder at our lot.  He wants to go over the site for the house one more time and go over some paperwork.  Then, we're showing my parents one of our builders houses so they can give us their input and I also want to take pictures and measurements of some of the rooms.  That house is the same layout that we built off of, so although it's not our exact layout, it's similar enough to have a good idea.  I'd also like to go by Home Depot and pick up supplies to start refinishing some of the furniture I purchased (a queen bed, full bed with mattress set, two desks and a dresser for my stepdaughters rooms for just under $300!!).  They are all vintage and will look gorgeous once repainted.

On Sunday, we may go look at a desk for our home office.  It's really pretty and similar desks new are in the several thousand dollar range.  This one is $475 so we're hoping it works.

Re: TGIF

  • This weekend is operation holiday decoration! We're planning on getting our tree and I'm planning on finishing a painting that I've been working on for our mantle.

We also need to run to IKEA because H's parents offered to buy us furniture for the family room off of our kitchen as a Christmas present. We have our TV, couch, etc in the larger living room, but we have a room with a fireplace that's open to our kitchen. We don't use our fireplace much because there's no where to sit. We're putting our Christmas tree in that room (so it'll be near the fireplace), so it'll be nice to have a place to sit to enjoy the tree. IKEA had a chair and loveseat that we really liked, but apparently it's discontinued. I called the local store and they still have a few, so we're headed there tomorrow.

Tomorrow is also H's work holiday party. It sounds fancy and I love his coworkers, so it should be fun.

  • Tonight I'm going to try to cheer DH up.  His boss strung him along for months acting like he was getting a big raise and promotion (they usually all get raises on their first paychecks in December) and NO ONE got anything.  At all.  He was so dejected last night, he walked in with this bottle of wine he had bought earlier to celebrate before he found out--it kind of broke my heart to see the look on his face.  So he's kind of feeling like Clark Griswold in National Lampoon's Christmas where he gets the Jelly of the Month subscription instead of a bonus.  I'm going to try to convince him to go out to dinner and celebrate all the hard work and long hours he's been putting in.

Tomorrow is a shopping trip with my little brother, Mom and DH.  It's a tradition we do every year, go to the mall in downtown Indy and have lunch.  Then a family Christmas party which is actually really fun every  year.

Sunday is Gaudete Sunday (third Sunday in Advent-"Rejoice Sunday") so we have Mass and we get to light the rose-colored candle in our Advent Wreath.  I need to wrap gifts and get our cards ready to mail out.

So, busy weekend.  Hoping I can cheer DH up tonight so that he can enjoy it all.

  • Tonight we're decorating our tree, getting a few small presents, and baking cookies.

Tomorrow night we're throwing a Tacky Christmas party. H is smoking a turkey. I'm making coal lumps (rice krispies dyed black w/oreos), cookies, pizza dough balls stuffed with cheese shaped like a tree, pigs in a blanket like a wreath, and pizza shaped like a candy cane with pepperoni as the stripes. We're also doing crock pot hot chocolate with a toppings bar, and some kind of champagne punch.

    Sunday, cleaning and relaxing.

  • Tonight nothing.  I have a huge head ache all of a sudden.

Tomorrow is H's birthday!!  We're cleaning and getting ready for Sunday during the day.  In the evening, we're going to bring O to H's parents house so we can go out to dinner.  We're going to this delicious Portuguese restaurant in NJ.  I am so excited!  Their food is incredible.

Sunday, H's extended family is coming to our house to celebrate his grandmother's 90th birthday and Hanukkah.
  • Tonight I'm washing everything we touched this week! I had the stomach bug mon-wed and T & H got lesser versions of it. I need to clean everything. Of course the happens 2 days after we paid someone to deep clean our whole house, looks like I'm doing it again anyway :-(

Saturday we are taking Tyrion and our pup for pictures with Santa. Maybe some christmas shopping and hoping to finish decorating.

Sunday don't plan on leaving the house!
  • Worked today. Was there three hours over tonight because we got stuff in about an hour or so before leaving. The people that interact with our clients okayed a ton of stuff to come in despite us having a skeleton crew. Blah.

Tomorrow i get to repeat all the work nonsense again. No idea what time that will be until. I'm at my wits end with that place anymore but I have no idea what to do for a career otherwise.

Hopefully (time pending) going to visit my mom at the hospital too. She's supposed to be coming home soon, which I'm happy about. I was worried about trying to make sure she had Christmas dinner and things. Due to insurance things, they're doing home rehabilitation to get her back on her feet. So hopefully that works out.

Would also like to get to the gym tomorrow as well. Thankfully they're open 24/7.

Otherwise, lots of laundry and hopefully gift wrapping. Confession: I listened to the record that I got for H's gift since it was just in a sleeve and not sealed. I almost cried out of happiness. He better like it. :)

  • @mana8503‌ that cut looks like what I plan oh doing next haircut ! Is it shorter in the back, like an Angled bob? It looks great!!
  • @DanaOcNy‌ - yup! I told my stylist I wanted the front to my collar bones so I can pull it up, back a little shorter and stacked. I was getting tired of living in pony tails.
