US and Cuba

So, Obama announced yesterday that the US and Cuba will re-establish diplomatic relations and open economic and travel ties.

I’m really interested in the American point of view on this. What do you think?

Definitely less cool to have Cuban cigars. The are only so sought after because you can't have them. They aren't any better than your typical cigar.

I don't know about the Cuban cigars. They seem to be pretty cool still in Canada and we're allowed to have them.

Maybe... Maybe I've just never had a good Cuban! It's hard when you have to sneak them in to the country ;-)

I'm with ILRV...

It seems that this is a generational thing. I know that there were major issues with Cuba in the past but not in my lifetime. As a result, I don't really know what the big deal is. That being said, I'm the first to admit that it might help to catch up on why this is so controversial and know the facts before having an opinion.

I don't have enough information to form a complete opinion, but I'm leaning toward supporting it. F Castro usually puts something out days after R Castro makes any major decisions, so I'm interested in what he will say.
