Re: QOTD 12/23

  • BEFORE! Stockings are like the warm up to presents, an appetizer. Plus, when I was a kid, doing stockings first let my mom get her cup of coffee before the main event.

    Before

ETA - pushed post too soon.  We didn't have stocking growing up, but we do them with the kids.  I want to do one for Eliza next year.  This year all her stuff is in the stocking because I'm not wrapping gifts for a 3 month old lol.

  • I can't remember if we do them before or after.  I think last year, the kids did them after.  I'm hoping next year when we are in our house, we'll do them for us and the kids and maybe we'll do them before.

  • Before. We always opened our stockings and then had breakfast and then did presents. J is only getting a stocking from us. He will be getting a bunch of stuff from our families and we decided he didn't need any more stuff from us. Plus, money is tight.

  • After, it's like dessert after the big presents!  I love stockings bc that's where I usually get my new makeup :)

  • After. We both grew up opening them after as well so it was an easy decision!

  • After-usually the good stuff is under the tree
  • After, it has always been more of an after thought, like "oh yea the stockings, there is stuff in there"

Ill have to ask H what he wants to do with DD going forward and then make it part of our tradition.

Exactly this. Replace J with D and that's our life.

  • We opened presents on Christmas Eve.  My oldest brother and sister are 1/2 sibs and they had christmas day with their mom.  Stockings were christmas morning.

  • We had bags instead of stockings and we did them after presents.  At my in laws I think we do them before, usually Christmas eve.

  • I grew up doing them after. H and I still do them after.
  • Before.. I think. Basing this off something that takes place once a year. I never really did the stocking thing until dating H. We each have one at his parents' house. They usually get handed out right before cracking into everything else gift wise.

  • We didn't have stockings growing up because there was no where in my parents house to hang them.  H's family does them throughout the day on Christmas Eve.

I don't think we'll start the tradition until maybe next year.  We will be opening O's presents anyway.
  • Before!! Growing up, my parents always would fill them and then while we were sleeping would hang them on the end of our beds. That way as soon as we woke up we had something to do!
