Here's our tree. Real all the way! No topper this year because it has been quite tipsy. We need a better stand for next year.
If it's a pre-lit tree, you may have a fuse blown on the strand that's out. Just figure out which strand it is that's broken, and at the plug, there is this tiny "door." It migh tneed to be be opened with a butter knife. There are typically 2 fuses on each strand, so in the light replacement baggies that may have come with your tree, those little metal and glass tubes are the fuses. Remove the old ones (again, with a butter knife tip) and put in the new ones.
If this doesn't light the strand that's out, then since lights of this type are strung in a series, it's possible that you have too many burnt out bulbs for the whole strand to work. These stands can usually remain lit even if a few lights are burnt, but if more that a few are out, then the electrical current doesn't flow through the strand and the whole strand goes out. To fix this, you need replacement bulbs, which you can buy at Amazon. And, you need a place to test each of the lights in the strand.
Admittedly, either "fix" is time consuming, but it's cheaper than replacing an entire pre-lit tree.
IF you decide to replace the tree, try Treetopia.com they are having a 60% off sale right now. All their trees come with a 5 year guarantee.
