2015 New Year's Resolutions

I know it's the holidays and the board has been slow lately, but come on NBC, you are killing me! WHERE IS EVERYONE?

Does anyone want to share their New Year's resolutions for 2015?

Re: 2015 New Year's Resolutions

  • I don't think I made any resolutions for 2014 and even though it started a little rough for me, it turned out to be an amazing year!  I do have two goals for 2015.  The first is to get smarter about our money.  We are good at saving, but also really good at needlessly spending, so I want to try to get our ducks in a row a little better, cut out some (not all) of the extra spending, and get a little better with investing.  The second is to make it through this parenting thing with happy, healthy parents and baby.

I didn't set a reading goal for 2014 and am going to do the same for 2015.  I have no clue how much I'll be able to or want to read with everything going on, but I'm sure I will still read some even if it isn't as much as past years.

  • I'm trying not to make "resolutions" this year but making focuses for each month to hopefully build better habits.  I'm reading the Happiness Project and while it's not life shattering information, I'm enjoying the idea of it.  I know the focuses I want so far are Health, Money (including saving, learning more about budgeting, etc.), Listening Better, and Appreciating what's in front of me.  I still need to polish them each a bit but I want to try to make this upcoming year better than 2014.

  • I have some financial goals for 2015.  We did so many house projects in 2014 that it killed our accounts.  We're going to cut back on big projects, but I also need a new car, so the goals will go to that too.

My goal for the last couple of years has been to be more green.  We're recycling more than ever, trying to reduce our waste, planted a garden last year.  I want to do a better garden this year, get some rain barrels maybe, and start composting.  I also want to figure out smart ways to reduce our electric bill.

  • I guess I have some goals although they tend to stay the same from year to year.

    1. Find more time for exercise.  Right now I'm a 3-4 days a week person but I really want it to become a daily habit.
    2. Diet.  I eat fairly healthy but I want to cut even farther back on processed food.
    3. Make some progress in paying off my debt
    4. Start doing more things that bring myself and my family enjoyment.  I'm a yes person.   Whenever people ask me to do something with or for them I always feel like I have to say yes even if it brings me no enjoyment or I just don't have the time or desire.  I just want to learn to say no sometimes so I have more free time to spend with my family.
    5. work on our house

  • @SnShne322 We really should be more green too. We almost started a garden last year, but ended up working on the grass in the backyard instead.

  • @lab7979 I said no a lot more around the holidays this year and they have been so much better!  I'm still working on it, but even the little that I've started cutting back has made a difference.

  • Another one was cutting back on my time in the shower.  I love a long shower, but really, I need to cut back and conserve.

  • My only real resolution is to get out of debt... paying off as much as I can. I've cut up credit cards, so I'm on the right track, now I just need to get rid of the debt.
    Books Read in 2016: 4/50

  • 1. Find a way to expand my closet so I can buy more shoes

    2. Talk my husband into letting me build more book cases so I can buy more books.

    3. Talk my husband into fostering cats (which would lead to me not giving them up because no one would be good enough for my fosters) which in the end would end up with us adopting more cats.

So I guess my resolutions are to become a shoe, book, cat hoarder.

I was in San Diego for work, but I am back now!  I couldn't have my phone or computer during the day for 2.5 months and it was a sad and lonely time.  On top of that I was on the west coast and the internet is lonely out there because everyone else goes to bed and wakes up so much earlier.  I felt like I was far, far away.

At least the weather and other awesomeness in Southern California makes up for the sad internet LOL

  • 1. Read 1 "classic" each month.
    2. Exercise 3 to 5 times a week, I'm going to ease into it.
    3. Pay off my student loan.
    4. Stand up for myself more and not let people use me a doormat/dumping ground, this is more work related than personal.

  • 1. Write more.  I keep starting and stopping.  I want to actually finish something in 2015
    2. Use the new exercise equipment.  We got free weights and a bike trainer for Christmas.  We started using them last night, so I'm a bit sore today, but I want to continue to use them next year.
    3. Get rid of things around the house that we don't use or need.
    4. Bike as much as possible for our errands.
    5. Bring romance back in our relationship.  5 years of trying for a kid has a way of killing the romance...if ya know what I mean.
    6. And the hardest one, try to stress less.  Find something, anything, to keep my mind off of the stress of daily life or things that I can't control.I hold onto stress too much and when it bubbles over, I get severe panic attacks.  I also have really tiny but very deep knots all over my back that my husband can't even lightly massage without me crying.  I'm sure that has to do with stress.

  • 1) Get through the Drop Caps Challenge with @Jackiback - anyone else want to hop on board?
    2) Stay on track with yoga/gym time - maintain and continue to lose weight, but more importantly to improve my asanas
    3) Regular trips to see the niece and nephews and weekly face-timing - basically continue towards my goal of dominating the aunt game

That's about it.  I'm sure I'll set a number goal for books read - maybe 150?  But I'm not ever really SET on achieving those.  It's fun to count towards, but if it doesn't happen it's not a big deal.

    What is this?  I'm intrigued.

  • 1. Write in my journal daily

    2. Maintain happiness everyday. Some days I get upset and forget to remember how blessed I truly am. With this is to be less judgmental and enjoy life.

    3. Find a church that we enjoy and attend regularly

    4. Be the best mom/wife I can be.

    5. Actually take time for myself at least once a week.

  • I just want to do better about balancing things that are important to me.  Those are my spiritual, social, and personal lives; work, school, and exercise.  It sounds like a lot but I think it'll make me a better person by focusing more on certain areas.  I also want to start spending less and saving more, and work on some house projects.
    Siggy coming soon....
  • My main goal in 2015 is to finish my current book and to write another one.

I have other weight loss, parenting, and boy kissing related ones but that's what my focus will be on in this next year.

We're starting with the letter A and working our way month by month through Penguin's Drop Caps series.  When we're done we'll have read a bunch of classics and have a gorgeous book case set!

  • I've been so busy. Lots of shopping, baking, traveling. I'm finally home and have off until Monday. Nothing but food and reading for 5 days!!

    As far as 2015 resolutions:

    1. Start composting and growing veggies, herbs, fruits, etc. Also get some sort of landscaping done for our pitiful front yard.

    2. Home improvements: new tile in bathrooms; hardwood in living room, kitchen, dining, and hallway; new pantry in kitchen.

    3. Read....75 books? I can't decide.

    4. Save money and do better about impulse shopping. Especially with all the house stuff we'll have going on this year.

    5. Pretty please, buy a new car.

    6. More exercise, better food choices. Healthy healthy.

I did good on our 2014 resolutions (buy house, finish grad school and get a job, read 40 books, save money, learn to do canning/preserving).

  • 1. Drink less wine and eat less bread.  *cries*

    2. Be a better friend

    3.  Invest more aggressively for retirement

    4. Try something new once a month/find a new hobby

I found a link!  Googling just Drop Caps didn't come up but adding the Penguin did.
    This is awesome.

  • Here's my generalized list....

    1. Declutter, organize, beautify my house

    2. Re-focus on my green and healthy living goals. They've slipped during pregnancy, and I need to get back on track.

    3. Unplug more

  • I don't think I have any resolutions per se.  I have things I want to achieve like weight loss, writing more consistently, going to the gym more consistently, being more positive in general again.  Maybe starting to track my reading again since I got away from it in 2014.

MH wants to do the Kiss Kruise this fall so gym and diet may become top priorities.
