mana

so tell me about the car situation.

H and I have been talking about getting me something bigger and I love the look of the traverse or the equinox.

you really liked the acadia?

Re: mana

  • The Traverse and the Acadia are SO similar, I think I'd be happy with either one.  I think you would too if you wanted 7-8 passenger seating.  I've been watching youtube videos on both (and ford explorer, mazda, etc).  One website compared them and I think it said Acadia had a slightly smoother ride and a little bit better technology.

We went to William's Chevy on 40 and I wanted to look at the 2LT Traverse, but they didn't have it.  They didn't seem interested in getting one in for me either.  I could build one, and lose bargaining power, and it takes 4-6 weeks.  I'd really like to get rid of the Jeep before it hits 100K, losing trade in $, and I'm at 97K.

When I got my jeep the same thing happened.  I totaled my car, I needed something and Chevy didn't want to find me an Equinox.  I ended up going next door and got the Jeep.  My CW has the equinox and LOVES it.  I've been in it several times and it's really nice.

We went to test drive the Acadia (next door), because Jeff thinks it's slightly better ride and I think he likes the body style more.  What's really leaning me towards that one is they have a demo for sale (people drove it while their car was getting oil changes etc).  It has 4K miles, and they knocked 2K off because of it.  I'm going to try to get them to knock another 1K off.  It's the exact color I wanted, trim and 1 add on (heated seats).  It's my car, and for cheaper.  I need to keep my game face on when we go tomorrow.

But seriously, the insides are the same.

  • thats so exciting! I can't wait to hear how it all goes!
  • I have the Traverse and like it. It has had problems, but its a 2009 which was the first model year. DH said never again will we buy a first year of a car. I can't believe they wouldn't work with you to find one that you want. They tried to do that for us, but we ended up ordering one. We have the 3rd row seating but they stay down most of the time. The only thing I don't like is that we got the captain's chairs in the 2nd row. I'd like to put M's books, etc for the car next to her, but right now they are on the floor. It does make it easier to get to the 3rd row if its needed.

  • Thanks!  I'm very excited.  I've always felt rushed getting a car, I'm taking my time on this one.  I've been doing my homework for a while, so it's fun to finally drive them.  I also feel like I can walk away if I'm not getting what I want.

I'm also sad... I've had some fun times in the jeep.  All our trips to NC, dates, etc.  But I need something bigger.

  • thats also a good point about getting rid of your car before it hits 100K miles.
  • I love the look of the Acadia. Tons of room. My friends just got a Toyota Highlander and it is beautiful. If you are looking for something as your "right now" car, I would look at imports. You get a higher trade in value on them. I know a lot of people dont like imports, but my Toyota was built in Canada. Its not America, but its also not Japan. Most import vehicles now are built in the North America areas.

We are in the same boat. We need something bigger than my little car. But Chris doesnt want something as big as his Envoy. I want a Subaru Forester, but for the same price of a used one I can get something else brand new. So we are looking at the Mazda CX-5. I love the Rav 4, but its still a smidge too small for us. Especially with Chris' size.

I wanted the caption chairs because we will probably have 2 in car seats and I don't want to have to remove one to get into the back row... Like you we will probably have the back row down unless we have the kids, or my parents with us.

My Jeep was the first year model, but everything was the same as the patriot but different body style.  But my dad says the same thing.
