Tenth Anniversary 10000 Comments 500 Love Its Name Dropper
edited January 2015 in Nest Book Club
So I picked up an e-book and started reading it.  It was a book that I had been looking forward to reading for a while.  I started it and thought "Well, this doesn't seem anything like the Goodreads description".  I continued reading.  And can I say that I thought I was reading a YA novel but there seemed to be a lot of talk about drugs and some very descriptive sex.  I was a bit shocked that this book could be one of the best YA books of the year and get away with some of the adult situations.

Finally, I finished the book this morning and when I got to the end of the book where they have a conversation with the author I noticed that the author's name was totally different than the one I thought it was.  So when I went to goodreads to log the book as read, I realized that I was reading a TOTALLY different book than I had thought I was reading.

I thought I was reading this one:

I guess the similar covers and names were to much for my easily confused brain to process.

What a great start to the new reading year I am off to.  I just can't believe it took me the entire book to realize that I am an idiot.

It was ok.  The sad thing is, I probably would have liked it more if I wasn't expecting something completely different.  I just couldn't figure out for the life of me why it seemed like I was reading a totally different book than what I expected it to be.

  • My IRL book club picked some obscure Irish book one month, titled Grace Notes. I bought the wrong Grace Notes for Kindle. I made it through the introduction and wanted to throw it across the room. I was thinking I needed to quit my book club if this was the kind of thing they picked. Then thankfully I noticed the author was wrong and got a Kindle refund. The book I really was supposed to read was the third or fourth in the search results.

  • (There's no way I could have made it through the whole book in my case, so kudos to you for managing that!)
