I have really loved the Mayo pregnancy book, but realized I don't have a book for early childhood development. Any recommendations?
I feel like I have a good grasp of the basics of child care, but I think it would be nice to have a general overview for the first few years. Any tips?
And what about breastfeeding? I never even considered finding a book until it was mentioned on another board recently. Did you find it necessary? have a recommendation? fwiw I am not taking a class the timing hasn't worked out

This is the book I used for Adalyn's first year. It was simple and to the point but answered questions I had:

I got most of my parenting info from TB or other moms I knew IRL though.
A great place to check out though would be First Five, it's a California based website, but the info can be used by anyone:

yes, kelly mom will be your guide to everything!
once the baby has arrived you'll find you have no time to read anything for 6ish months and you'll need to either go there, ask you BMB, or ask us what the heck is happening!

I was given a small stack of books from friends re: first year, first two years, breastfeeding, etc., and I can honestly say that I had zero time to read them, and ended up having zero desire to read them. I have a breastfeeding book I'd be glad to send your way if you're interested.

"People talk about escapism as if it's a bad thing... Once you've escaped, once you come back, the world is not the same as when you left it. You come back to it with skills, weapons, knowledge you didn't have before. Then you are better equipped to deal with your current reality."
