Cleaning/ Organization tips
I need help!! Is your house "drop in" ready? Like if someone were to make a surprise visit, would you be embarrassed? My house is pretty clean, its just the stuff we have EVERYWHERE!! You usually can't see our island in the kitchen. Not much I can do about M's toys. I was thinking it might help to have one of cleaning schedules, but I haven't found one that I like. Like "fly lady"for example.
Re: Cleaning/ Organization tips
Our living room is baby land. Right now our dining room is Santa's gift-wrapping work shop. Jeff and I are slowly getting the down stairs picked up.
When I try to organize I try to see what's the problem. I usually get baskets etc to help. Part of me thinks we need to trash or donate things, soon.
Most days no. But its not terrible. I have a cleaning schedule that I/we follow so it isnt an all day affair to clean the house. Each persons laundry is done a certian day of the week. Same with sheets/towels/blankets. Floors are swept everyday, wet mopped every 3. Carpets are vacuumed twice a week because of the dog, dishes done everyday, bathrooms once a week. Fridge cleaned and wiped out once a week before grocery shopping.
Chase has a list of chores that are done daily and they include, keeping his bedroom/bathroom straightened, brushing the dog, emptying the dishwasher as needed and straighteing up his living room before bed each night.
I make sure that there are only a few things to do each day so they dont seem so daunting. My major thing is paper/junk mail. I look through the mail immediatly and dispurse papers to where they need to be to eliminate clutter or worry about something going missing.
Does the list get totally done everyday? Hell no. But all I can do is try. I ask that the boys each take something off the list each day on top of their normal routine. They can take the easiest thing possible, I dont care. Its just one more thing off my list.
I saw a sign that said something like "My house isn't messy, my kids are making memories" yuppers!
our house is typically clean enought for drop in's. Ben says my standards are different than most peoples though and i'm forever cleaning up piles, wiping counters, and trying to stay on top of the laundry.
and of course having a baby just makes it a million times work.
My new years desire is to try and do 15 minutes worth of stuff every night in order to stay ahead of everything. that is 15 minutes in addition to the dishes/wiping counters/washing bottles..
