Re: QOTD 1/9

  • I had a 1994 Ford Tempo that my mom got my for my 17th birthday.  It was a terrible car and required so much work, but I loved it because it was all mine (the ownership and insurance were in my name too).

  • My dad loves cars so after I got my license he let me drive his 1971 Buick GS around.  It was so much fun.  If I wasn't driving that, it was our family minivan - a Chevy Lumina.  It was like a spaceship.

  • I didn't get my driver's license until I was 26, so I'm still driving my first car, which is a 2010 Toyota Corolla. When I was learning, I would regularly drive my husband's Mazda 3. The fact that he taught me how to drive without either of us going crazy or killing each other is one of the reasons we got married. :)

  • A 1997 Saturn SL2.  It was a stick shift and had a sun roof.  I loved that little car!

  • Well, I had my first car, a hand me down from my parents for about a week. It was a 1988 Ford Taurus that decided to start on fire about a week after I got my license. After that, I got a 1994 Chevy Lumina (the car, not the van).

  • A 1989 Chevy Caprice. It was a hand-me-down of a hand-me-down (my grandparents to my mom to me). I started driving it after I got my license, as my mom was unable to drive anymore at that point. It was so damn big, the worst car for a new driver. My friends coined it the BAC - "Big Ass Car." It was eventually sold to be a taxi in Georgia.
  • My parents wound up getting me a 2007 pontiac g6. It was from a dealership that specialized in cars that had weird title things going on. (Apparently mine was purchased from a police auction. Someone took it for a test drive and kept going. As a result, super low mileage)

  • 1994 Pontiac Grand Am. It was a gift from my parents for my 17th birthday when I got my driver's license. Not a bad car at all. Great gas mileage.

  • When I was in high school or home on college breaks, I drove my mom's Honda Accord. I got my first (and current car), a Honda Civic when I graduated college.

  • A 97 Nissan Sentra.  It was my first car and my parents bought it for me.  I didn't even have my license yet and a friend of mine was driving it when some jerk off switched lanes and hit the front of the car.  He tried to drive off and we chased him down until he lost control at a turn and ended up getting stuck in a pot hole.  He was an illegal and didn't want to get in trouble and if he wouldn't have run, I would have been willing to work something out with him.  I called the cops and it was a huge ordeal.  It sucked because the car was in perfect condition when I got it and ended up driving with a busted front end for about 6 months after I got my license.

  • I drove our family's Plymouth Grand Voyager (sexy minivan!) mostly while I had my permit and for the first few months I had my license. Occasionally my brothers Honda. Then we got my '91 BMW 325i which caught on fire 7 months later.

  • I had an 87 Pontiac Grand Am. Great car until I killed it !
  • 91 Toyota Camry.  I started looking for cars a few months before I got my license.  My grandmother wasn't happy at with the quality of the cars I was looking at because it was all I could afford.  She bought a new car and gave me hers.  It had like 15,000 miles on it and it was 9 years old.

@ramstein1027 My first new car was a Saturn SL2.  That was such a great car!
  • '97 Oldsmobile Achieva. It was a nice car, but it was only a 2-door, which sucked when I had more than 1 passenger.
