Re: Thankful Thursday

  • I'm thankful Jeff is going to take E's new 10 pm feeding.  Maybe then I can string 3 hours of sleep together.

  • @mana8503 how often is E waking up at night now? have you tried to soothe her with a paci or rocking her instead of feeding at night when she wakes up? I slowly at some point stopped feeding Bear when he would wake up in the middle of the night since they don't really need it since they're eating so much now during the daytime. esp if she ate 19 oz during the day! Bear only gets 15oz.

  • @mana8503. Do you nurse her to sleep? I used to then around 3 1/2 months she would wake up and I thought she was hungry, but it was that she couldn't go to sleep without nursing. So I had to start putting her down drowsy but awake.

  • @amccul20 - She's been going to sleep around 730-8 (I'd prefer 8-830 but she melts down around 7).  We've been getting up at 10, 12, 2, and 4, or 3 of those times on a good night.

I was feeding her all those times when she was sick to keep dehydration away. Since she's better, I try to rock with a paci if it's less that 4 hours.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Last night I feed her at 10, and she refused to stay asleep when I laid her down.  Finally at 1130 I fed her again and she stayed asleep.  I've tried putting her in her crib drowsy, but awake with her sea creature soother on, it's only worked once.  I go in and just put her paci in, and she spits it out and screams.

It's been going on since Christmas.  I thought it was being in NC, then she got sick... and now 4th leap/ 4 mon sleep regression/ growth spurt?  I know I need to be consistent but some nights I try to get her to self sooth, other I just feed so I can sleep.

She only had 14 oz yesterday!  I told mom to only give 3 oz after morning feeding and she's been fine with that.  I've been pumping 17, so that does leave Jeff a bottle.  I'd rather him take a feeding at 10, even though it's 2 hours, since he goes into work around 11, and hope she skips to 4 am.

  • Yeah, trying to be consistent is really hard when your exhausted. We ended up sleep training at 4 months b/c she wanted to nurse to sleep. She was up every 45 minutes to hour from 10-3. I know some say it's too young, but doc said it was fine. They also say its harder when they are older, so who knows. M is now an awesome sleeper. I think doing the 10 feed would be good. M used to go sleep in her pack and play around 8. I'd sleep on the couch then do a dream.feed around 10:30 and put her in her crib. She would then sleep til 3 or 4.

I let her fuss it out, but once it's a cry I go in.  She used to self sooth with her thumb and when she skips the 2am feeding I still wake up and see on the video that's what's she's doing.  She just doesn't "remember" it often enough now lol.  I'm just trying to get through until next Friday for her 4 month apt and see what the pedi says.  She's obviously not starving being 14 lbs at 3.5 months (almost double birth weight).

I asked the same question when I got home on Wednesday, haha.  H wanted to surprise me and they were on sale at Walgreens.  He knew I was curious about the birthday cake flavor because we saw them at Target last weekend and I lamented not buying a bag on the way home.  But then he saw the crispy ones, which just came back, and remembered that I really liked them and was sad when they went away.  So he wanted to get those, too.  And THEN he got worried that I wouldn't like the birthday cake and that the crispy might be not be the same as they used to be (thus disappointing me), so he grabbed a bag of peanut butter because he knows for sure I LOVE them.

And, of course, he got himself 3 bags as well.
  • @klm42404‌ - we didn't end up going. T was tired by 7 and I got stuck on a phone call anyway. I'm bummed we missed it! Did you go?
