Ugh!!!

So, remember our QOTD where I said I hadn't broken a bone. I take it all back.

Yesterday, I was going downstairs in our house and missed the 3rd step from the bottom. I landed right on my foot and it hurt so, so bad!

Finally, H and I decided that I really needed to go to urgent care. They did an x-Ray, saw that a bone in my foot was fractured, and sent me to the ER. At the ER, I got a lovely splint that goes from toes to almost my knee.

I see ortho tomorrow and hopefully won't need surgery. H thinks I'm going to be in a cast for 2 months though.

I stink at using crutches and this is miserable!

Ughhhh is the only way to describe the frustration!

Re: Ugh!!!

  •   :( Ugh, NO!!!  I'm so sorry, I hope you don't need surgery and it's a speedy recovery.

I needed crutches from my knee after my car accident... I gave up after a day and I'm sure I did more damage to it.

H rented me one if those knee scooters. You kneel your hurt leg on it and then push off with your good leg. Apparently, it even has a basket...no streamers in the handlebars or bell though haha! I get to try it after work : )

  • I'm sorry to hear that you broke your foot.  That really sucks.  I hope you don't have to have surgery.  DH was supposed to be on crutches for his sprained ankle all last week and this week but he gave up on them in the parking lot of the hospital.

  • Yikes!! I'm so sorry!! :( I hope you don't need surgery either.

I think you need to attach streamers, at least!! Our special ed assistant broke her foot and she wheeled around school on one of those!

  • I am so sorry!  I hope that you don't need surgery.

My friend had a bad ankle fracture a few years ago that required multiple surgeries.  He had one of those scooters.  It was very funny to watch him scoot around his apartment.  One of his coworkers bought him a bike horn for it.  He said he would scoot through his office tooting the horn and everyone would laugh.  Maybe you should get a horn for your scooter.
  • That stinks!! Hopefully you have a quick recovery without any major complications.

  • I am currently the proud renter of this model (<---clicky) in black. It's wonderful! My knee/shin is getting a little sore from kneeling on it...but still worth it.

I absolutely sucked on crutches. I thought I had good balance, until I tried to use those things. Plus, the crutches tutorial in the ER was done by a tech who didn't know how to use them himself. H and I were explaining to him how to use the crutches. Finally, I was like PLEASE just discharge me!

The people at my job have been so nice. H drove me to work yesterday and a nice lady helped me off the elevator. My officemate has offered to get me whatever i need. Actually, the fire alarms went off yesterday. My boss was like OMG give the girl a break! Luckily, the alarms stopped and we didn't have to evacuate...I work on the 6th floor, so that was going to be a lot of stairs! Before the alarms stopped, my co-workers were coming up with a plan of who was going to carry me down the stairs LOL!

My boss is letting me work from home today. I have a Dr. appointment with ortho at 2:00. I'm hoping for no surgery. I'd love to have a walking cast of some sort, but I don't think it's going to happen. I'll let you know how it goes.
