The Girl on the Train - so incredibly good!

I don't come around here very often, but I just finished The Girl on the Train and I'm so excited about it I had to share! (Apologies if you've already talked about it, I didn't see it in a search.) It was so freaking good. Couldn't put it down. Very reminiscent of Gone Girl in its darkness. The main character is a fall-down drunk who has blackouts and therefore unreliable memories. She takes the train to London every day and sees something that gets her involved in a crime. Anyway, it was really different. Anyone read it?

My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

  • I am glad to hear someone has read and liked it. I don't remember where I first heard about it but I am 60 on the library line for overdrive. I haven't gone to the library yet to see if they have a copy.

  • I just finished this this morning and IT IS SO GOOD!

I saw it on a list of books for people who enjoyed Gone Girl and think that it is a good comparison.

  • Oh don't tell me that @jackiback.  I was looking forward to this one but I didn't like Gone Girl - couldn't even finish it.

  • I want to read this! But... I have entirely too many library books checked out. It's absurd. Still, I should get on the list before there are 300 people before me.

Tell me what you didn't like about Gone Girl, I'll tell you if those dislikes are applicable ;)

I read it via overdrive. I was second in a line of 3 when i put it on hold. When I looked today, there were 30 people on the list. Request it! :)

  • I requested this yesterday on overdrive and there are 103 people ahead of me for one ebook, lol. I just checked the library and there are only 6 people ahead of me for the actual book so I put a hold there too. I'm really tempted to just buy it but I am trying to spend less.

  • It's like Gone Girl in the sense that it's dark and dealing with dysfunctional characters and you don't know what's going on. While I wouldn't say the main character is unlikeable, she's just got issues (which I found fascinating).

  • I'm really debating just getting this on audio, since I sampled and loved the narrator. I guess worth it?
