NGPR: Fashion Help Needed!

DH and I are going to a secret wedding in a far away state. DH and I know about the wedding because he is the Best Man.

The wedding will be held in a restaurant in a city that will be very cold and will likely have snow. The restaurant seems nice, but not super upscale or fancy (from what I can tell from the website).

The only people that will be dressed up are the bride, groom, and the bridal party. I asked the groom what I should wear, and he said I could dress up if I wanted to or not because none of the other guests will be dressed up.

What should I wear? Either way (dressed up or not), can y'all recommend some specific outfits? Thanks!

Re: NGPR: Fashion Help Needed!

  • I'm not good with specific outfits, but if your husband is BM I would dress up. I wouldn't want to be casual while he is in a suit/tux.

I would dress up a little bit, out of respect for the bride and groom, even if the restaurant isn't fancy or other guests won't be dressed up.

It's hard to make specific recommendations because I don't know your style, but I would probably wear a simple dress (that I could wear again) like these... (all from the Dress Barn website because it's one of my favourites)

  • @nfp147 - You should buy yourself the polka dot dress just because it's soooo cute! Even though you aren't going to a wedding haha.

I agree with NFP though, you definitely would rather be a little dressy just because DH is a BM. And who cares what the other guests wear, you two will have some cute pics by the end of the evening.

  • I love that black dress. I'm so-so about the other two. I'm plus-sized, so I think the black would look better on me.

Question: what kind of shoes should I wear? If it is snowy out, then I can't wear open toed heels! How do you dress up and go out in the cold and snow?

  • I wear heels in the snow, but I'm very used to snow :)  I imagine you could park very close to the restaurant or get a taxi to drop you at the door.

  • I still haven't gotten used to the snow, so I would probably look for some cute boots to go with the dress. I also don't know how to dress myself most of the time, so don't listen to me too much on this.

I'm plus size and I have the blue on in a different colour.  It's quite flattering.
