Vellichor: The strange wistfulness of used bookstores

Re: Blizzard 2015 - How's it going?

  • It has not lived up to my expectations. We were in an 18 to 24 inch zone. We've gotten maybe five so far.

  • I heard that it wasn't (yet, anyway) what was predicted. I hope everyone stays nice and cozy and safe!

  • I'm in MA and we have about 22 inches so far!

  • It's starting to wrap up now and I think we'll end up with about 16-18 inches.  In the range the gave, but on the low side.  Thank goodness!

  • Crash and burn for us.  We were supposed to be hit with 24" but it was maybe 2" total.

  • I'm in SC, so out of the blizzard zone. Although a few people at work said they saw a few flakes. And wondered if school would be closed. LOL.

    Everyone stay warm and safe!

  • We ended up with about 18" - 20".  Our house was a bit west of the storm so we got out easier than towns that are just 20 minutes away from us.

  • They were calling for 6-8" here and we got a little rain/ice mix. That's it.

@booknerd226 I remember when we lived in SC and they closed schools before there was even a  single snowflake in the air. :)  We had just moved there from Delaware and left about 3 feet of snow behind.

  • I'm SUPER pissed because we have tickets to the Phoenix Open (Golf) on Friday, and our forecast is 65 for a high and 70% chance of rain.  I'm in denial that I am going to have to wear close-toed shoes.

I would NOT do well in the Northeast ;-)

In December, they closed schools here for TWO days because it was going to rain real hard. It rained super hard for about 35 minutes then stopped.

UHHH because I'm a desert rat and 65 with rain is basically arctic winter.

Buuttt I was complaining about this to my husband today and he told me to go buy some cute new rain boots, so I said OKAY and am now excited again.  Hahaha!

@CeeCeeSugaPie Yes they actually did a three hour delay recently for cold weather. No chance of precipitation, just cold weather. I didn't even wear a jacket that day!

@84Lauren What a wonderful husband you have.  I would swoon over any man who told me to go buy shoes.
