  I'm disappointed. I feel like I have to watch the shows, because there's no way I could avoid the spoilers for years! I will probably read the last few books still, but I don't think I'll enjoy them quite as much if I already know the ending. I agree with the post that it's a little unfair to pressure GRRM to write faster than he can. I wonder if he's really struggling with writer's block on the novels, which is why he's writing the other stuff instead.

  
  

  But I've also seen some past quotes where he sounded very naive that HBO would wait for him (Remember when he suggested they do a hedge knight miniseries as a break from the main show?). They've been pretty vocal about getting it all filmed before the kids get too old.

  I was afraid of that. I wonder if you're right, @GilliC, about the writers block. That would explain why he's all over the place with other projects. I'm always behind on the show since I don't have HBO, but it sounds like the new book wouldn't even hit by the time the last book-based season hits Netflix.
