@jackiback - After all the hubub on the bump, they just announced a new TOU over there. Do you know if the same TOU now applies over here?

It makes me really uncomfortable.

TOU = terms of use

This is what it says:

"If you submit or post any materials or content to the Site, you grant us and our business partners a royalty free, perpetual, irrevocable, transferrable, assignable, sub-licensable, worldwide license to use such materials and content, including alterations thereof, for our business purposes, in any form, in any media, and via any technology we choose, whether it exists now or is created in the future. You represent that any materials and content posted or otherwise submitted by you to the Site is original to you and that you have the right to grant us these rights."

I know this is pretty standard to most social media-type sites, but after the complete mishandling of the situation on the bump, it just really makes me feel gross.

Totally with you! I've been feeling a little gross just being here because it's the same company, and their handling of what went down at the Bump was so very wrong. That's why The bump is a ghost town now, especially on the ttc and loss boards.

I know that's fairly typical, but it makes me feel uncomfortable. Would I leave over it? Probably not, but if everyone decide to jump ship (not that I'm trying to incite this!!!) I wouldn't blame them.

Where is the current TOU? I poked around a bit, but didn't see it. It never occurred to me to read it, shame on me. I signed up thinking I would save pictures for my wedding, and never even considered posting. Obviously, that's changed now.

I wish I could give you more information, but Nest Mods are pretty much flying solo. There hasn't been a reply by someone "in charge" to a question on the Mods board since August 2014.

This exact question was asked on January 14th, but has yet to receive an answer by a Nest God.

I remember back when Knot responses were printed in The Knot magazine, and people thought it was so weird to see their Knottie friends' screennames in the actual magazine. I've always assumedthat they'll take any material from the boards that they want to use.

As a bump board regular I just wanted to make it clear the mass exodus wasn't because they changed the TOU. It started when a couple long standing and respected mods were banned without any warning hours before the release of the new TOU because they disagreed with it, and the bump gods didn't want them stirring the pot (there is a screen shot proof of this). Many people got upset and requested account deletions which the bump gods dragged their feet, and originally lied saying they were unable to. They since wiped boards so you can't see more than one page of threads to try and eliminate all evidence of unrest, claiming they were hacked. Then they removed all mods and replaced them with paid XO employees who are at will editing and deleting posts. With a whole lot of BS and flat out lying in between, including BumpCarley saying on twitter it was just a problem with trolls and they removed the bad apples. One of these "bad apples" was an important member/mod to the infertility boards. The whole thing is disgusting. ETA: I'm surprised I was able to post sweetc129 is bump banned. ETA2: I'm not trying to bring drama over here or get you guys upset by it, just setting the record straight.

Thank you for typing all that up. I didn't even know where to begin. The whole thing was just grossly mishandled by the bump gods and gross, gross, gross.

Blech. That sounds like a big mess. Ah well. There are plenty of places to go outside the nest if they turn shadier than usual. Seems like they're always changing with some new scheme that the regulars hate. Whatev. I can choose to see ads about personalized napkins elsewhere.
